Australia Racing Preview for 4/25/2014

It’s another great weekend of racing in Australia with two more of our big Grade 1 races! The SCHWEPPES ALL AGED STAKES and the MOËT & CHANDON CHAMPAGNE STAKES have both provided us with superb fields yet again and it makes for an exciting day at the track. Let’s take a look and see where we can make some money!
ROYAL RANDWICK – AUS B
RACE 2 – GRADE 3 TICKETEK HALL MARK STAKES 1200m Of $150000 (AUS)
Small but quite select this field. SEE THE WORLD will obviously give them a start but his TJ Smith finish was all the recommendation we need. Produced the fastest sectionals of the race and it was obviously a high class sprint. He really should have won this race last year (with the rail out 6 metres) with any luck and he can make amends 12 months later. KNOYDART also has Lankan Rupee form and that's going to hold up well. THAT'S A GOOD IDEA likes to go forward but resented the wet last time and he could be a hard one to catch. Respect for HOT SNITZEL as well.

RACE 4 - JOHNNIE WALKER FRANK PACKER PLATE 2000m Of $150000 (AUS)
ARABIAN GOLD was never aimed at the Oaks (distance doubt) but took out one of the lead-ups with aplomb. Now can she be as effective getting onto a drier track? I'm saying she is not simply a 'muddie' and can do the job. PHEIDON can be expected to improve back onto drier not that his effort was poor in the Tulloch. He has a good base of fitness on board - still in his first prep with all runs spaced 3-4 weeks. HOOKED reverts from a Derby trip but has obvious claims given how well he fought on there.
SELECTIONS - ARABIAN GOLD / HOOKED / PHEIDON
RACE 5 – GRADE 1 MOËT & CHANDON CHAMPAGNE STAKES 1600m Of $400000 (AUS)
Here we have a 2YO G1 over a mile......and no speed at all. Everything bar GO INDY GO competed on a wet track last start. Like the Sires, Gerald Ryan holds a strong hand not only with the Sires winner PEGGY JEAN but also BACHMANN. His Rosehill win has had good form come out of it and he simply appeared a class above both placegetters that have run so well since. PEGGY JEAN draws widest which may or may not be a problem. Rawiller seems to have 'chosen' her over the stablemate. Perhaps the inside gate cold work better for KUMAON?

RACE 6 – GRADE 1 SCHWEPPES ALL AGED STAKES 1400m Of $400000 (AUS)
The final Sydney G1 of the season. Not too bad a lineup either. REBEL DANE is early in his prep, very capable at 1400m, and in retrospect - given the winner was breathtaking in victory - it's hard to imagine him running much better first-up. Given barrier 10 of 11 but remember his G1 win was after jumping from barrier 14 at the Caulfield 1400m. He looks the obvious to me with several others having various queries about them. Waller pushes on with WEARY. Trained the first four in Doncaster so respect his charge representing the stable 'one out' here. ATLANTE could be the surprise?

RACE 7 – GRADE 3 BACARDI UNTAMEABLE J H B CARR STAKES 1400m Of $150000 (AUS)
HERA has raced forward over longer trips but presume from this draw at 1400m she'll be back. MINIATURE ran well when resuming and given what she's done in the past it's impossible to see her offering anything other than an honest workmanlike performance. The Snowden stablemate ENGAGEMENT made the step up last week. Always happy to respect Snowden on a 7 day turnaround as he doesn't do it much as a rule. CALMING INFLUENCE and FLIGHT ACADEMY could both improve getting off Heavy and check pattern for likely leader CHAMPAGNE CATH.
