May 30th, 2014

What a great day ahead at Eagle Farm racetrack! With winter upon us the good horses have flocked here to the warmer weather and a crack at some graded stakes racing. Highlighted with the Grade 1 Queensland Oaks! Let’s make some money!!

EAGLE FARM – AUS A

RACE 3 – GRADE 2 MERLO COFFEE EAGLE FARM CUP 2200m Of $250000 (AUS)

Small field in the WFA race for the stayers where MR O’CEIRIN looks the likely leader. Even accounting for the likely slow tempo I do think AKZAR has these covered, his win in the Warrnambool Cup was outstanding before getting back in the Doomben Cup making ground on a day when that wasn't easy. Extra 200m in his favour & he will be strong to the line as always. MORIARTY should get a soft run from the inside draw, not at his best this time in however he's a bit better than most of these & proven at WFA. MR O'CEIRIN needs rain.

SELECTIONS – AKZAR / MORIARTY / WISTFUL

RACE 6 – GRADE 2 SKY RACING QUEENSLAND GUINEAS 1400m of $350000 (AUS)

Big field for the Guineas which is always a very competitive race. It's a lottery, with so many hopes however I'll stick with the strength & go with SAFEGUARD who has been good at both his Qld starts finding the line strongly, not drawn too well however he's not a loner here in a race where luck will prove the key. My 'roughie' is PALMERA LAD, this one can really unleash a big finish, Doomben didn't suit at all, much better placed here with my only query being is the 1400m far enough. SIR MOMENTS has come back well & does draw nicely. I like HUCKLEBUCK also.

SELECTIONS – SAFEGUARD / PALMERA LAD / HUCKLEBUCK

RACE 7 – GRADE 1 TREASURY CASINO & HOTEL QUEENSLAND OAKS 2400m Of $400000 (AUS)

Feature is the G1 Oaks with a capacity field to line up. TORNADO MISS our likely leader. I was half leaning to TINTO early in the week over ARABIAN GOLD as she finished off the Roses so strongly, the injury scare to ARABIAN GOLD has certainly swayed me further her way & from a perfect gate I think she'll be the strongest at the end. Cannot knock ARABIAN GOLD's form, if she's ok then she's clearly the toughest to beat. Melbourne filly KHUTULUN has been impressive & should be strong at the trip, will she go forward or back from the wide gate?

SELECTIONS – TINTO / ARABIAN GOLD / KHUTULUN

RACE 8 – GRADE 2 MAGIC MILLIONS QTC CUP 1300m Of $175000 (AUS)

HOT SNITZEL looks the pace here being the only genuine on speed runner in the race, it's a struggle to find anything likely to even sit handy. To be honest he's not a horse of mine however I just can't go past him with that likely soft lead, he drops considerably in grade & should settle more kindly running along at his leisure. DOUBTFILLY was good fresh which is not usually her go, she may have come back better than ever & can take advantage of the inside gate. Sneaky chance MASTHEAD, he was huge at Hawkesbury before running into all sorts of trouble at Scone, monitor betting moves.

SELECTIONS – HOT SNITZEL / DOUBTFILLY / MASTHEAD
