Australia Racing Preview for 5/8/2014

Let’s take a little time and build a small bank for the weekend. Geelong has a nice little meet this Friday that we can take a quick peek at and find some winners.
GEELONG – AUS A
RACE 5 - RODERICK INSURANCE BROKERS HANDICAP 1000m $17,500 (AUS)
Really was impressed with the debut win of REGENT TERRACE at Wangaratta. You can line that form up favourably into a recent city winner. Given that, I am pretty sure she can measure up to better grade. MOTIFIC ran well here 1st up and he's drawn for a good run on speed in this event. MONEY CHASER would've had an easy victory 1st up had he not tried to run off the track at the 100m mark. WEE MAC may be an improver with blinkers on and a run under his belt. GOLDEN KISS is next best. Check the betting movements if you want to include SOUND OF THE OCEAN.

RACE 6 - GEELONG MILK PURA SHOWCASE HANDICAP 2000m $30,000 (AUS)
This is a tough one given a few of them will be on trial at 2000m. Thought CAFE SCIENTIFIC was progressing nicely until her last start. She wasn't completely hopeless but I did think she'd get home harder. Blinkers go on so she gets another go. TEJON should be suited back to her own sex in this race. There's no doubt at all on her at the distance which is a bonus. SWEET STARLETT is another filly on trial at 2000m. She's got the class to win a race like this so must be respected. GOD HELP HER and HELD HOSTAGE are in the same boat.

RACE 8 - JIMS MOWING SHOWCASE HANDICAP 1200m $30,000 (AUS)
Another tough one to end the day! Down the page, I'll consider CROSS OF GOLD (unbeaten around here), ONYA KEITHY (no real luck last time), ROYAL SCANDAL (if she brings her A-game she's hard to beat, being freshened helps), BELLE EZ (won a race like this 2nd up last prep so has the ability), CHOW MEOW (Oliver sticks on board, good sign), JIGGLE IT (much fitter for recent racing), MRS HADLEE (drawn for the softer run she needs) and CHARMED HARMONY (freshened with a senior jockey booked)
