Sandown Hillside sets the scene for our mid-week meet today! And with the final Grade 1 of the season coming up at the Brisbane carnival this weekend, you’re going to need to make some bank!
SANDOWN HILLSIDE – AUS A
RACE 4 - THE GRAND HOTEL FRANKSTON HANDICAP 1000m $35,000 (AUS)
HONEST LEE thrashed/eased down in Dec trial, assume all was not well! ELEVATES sat last in jump
out, was keen/ran on hard last 100m. BUGATTY resumes, his Sydney trial win was very strong, he was no match for Nayeli at Caulfield in Feb but beat CAUTIOUS clearly into 3rd, that filly is 2 from 2 this prep and in latest (with blinkers) beat MY LUCKY STRIKE who was wide on-speed and had the tougher run, he was backed off the map too, they beat 3rd well. TEMPS VOLEUR was good on debut there. Forget TOOTHLESS ran 1st-up (off top trial) when had issues (and early bias against).

RACE 5 - THE COVE HOTEL HANDICAP 1000m $35,000 (AUS)
CAVALLO NERO needs breaks his way but 1000m fresh on this track off this speed he is likely to run well, hard to load-up though! FLASH OF DOUBT resumes, she is 5 from 10 this track/trip, goes well fresh and claim is a help! OUR NKWAZI impressed last time on heavy and will be charging with ''CAVALLO'' I fancy. RUN DIEGO was in the 'ready to win next time if track wet' category and goes in everything, back to 1000m only little query. HARD ROMP is a live hope fresh too.
SELECTIONS – CAVALLO NERO / FLASH OF DOUBT/ OUR NKWAZI
RACE 6 - SPORTINGBET BEST TOTE PLUS 5% HANDICAP 1400m $35,000 (AUS)
DARE I ASK found plenty of strife last time and was in inferior ground, forget he went around prior also, the win 2nd-up Lakeside was strong beating Atlantis Dream and STAR IMPULSE, STAR IMPULSE has relative weights advantage and carries 52kg. SPIRITED WILL was Caulfield/1440m winner fresh last prep on wet ground then placed in $100k race behind two quality mares, can win if right. SINHALA jumped in trip latest and was solid behind Atlantis Dream which ties in strongly. QUEEN OF EIGHT a hope but again draws gate 1. COMICAL LASS can improve here.
