Australia Racing Preview for 6/3/2014

June 3rd, 2014

Mid-week racing sees us back out at the Sandown Hillside track this week with some nice little opportunities presenting themselves to make some money for the big weekend of racing coming up in Queensland. So without any more delay let’s take a look.

SANDOWN HILLSIDE – AUS A

RACE 4 - NINE WEST PLATE 1000m $35,000 (AUS)

I definitely would've preferred HILL SPY to draw out but I still think he will win this. He was good at MV 1st up then prepared to forgive his straight run last time, it happens. It was oddly run for a 1000m race. He's trialled well since that run. IL CAVALLO strips fitter for a sound return. He drew in that day and this time draws out where it's definitely been better to be of late. WEST AFRICA has been jumping out well at Flemington. His debut win at 1112m on rain affected ground was pretty impressive to my eye. He didn't look like a 1000m horse at MV but something may have been off that day. DUGAN is tough to assess but he can do some damage here.

SELECTIONS – HILL SPY / IL CAVALLO / WEST AFRICA

RACE 5 - LISTER HANDICAP 1400m $35,000 (AUS) 4YO

JUNOESQUE's first up win was spectacular. Like that she's had 3 week to get over it and If she can get away cleanly and settle down around midfield that will favour her, but as she showed last time she can mow them down from behind. ATLANTIS DREAM seems to be getting better with each run and I think can be a significant player here today. PROPER MADAM returns with blinkers on. She's been trialling well enough to warrant respect here. Like the way QUEEN OF EIGHT is going but wish she drew better, so not completely confident here.

SELECTIONS – JUNOESQUE / ATLANTIS DREAM / QUEEN OF EIGHT

RACE 6 - SPORTINGBET BEST TOTE PLUS 5% HANDICAP 1800m $35,000 (AUS) 3YO

This is one tough race to sort out. I AM TITANIUM (forever back and running on but definitely  has touch of class over this field), LE MANS (forget last run, can win), FRENCH HUSSLER (on trial here at 1800m, ridden to upfront last), PANTUO (forgive last one, another chance), CAMACHO (won ok here last time, so has to be respected), STRAIGHT JACKET (most impressive last start so definitely a chance today), ZENITHAL (good run last start, and the distance should suit), TWIN WELLS (form around Denominator is enough to win this) and SURE YOU CAN (looks to have come back well) that all said, it is tough.

SELECTIONS – I AM TITANIUM / STRAIGHT JACKET / LE MANS
