Betting the All-Stakes Pick 3 at Woodbine

A fantastic 14-race day of action will be hosted by Woodbine on Sunday, led by four big black-type tilts, two of which are of the Grade 2 variety. I’ll take a shot at the unique, $5 All-Stakes Pick 3 wager that takes place in the second half of the huge card. 

Race 8 Wager

$5 Pick 3: 5 with 4,11,12 with 1,7 ($30)

Race 8 – Nassau (G2)

A total of seven fillies and mares will jaunt one mile on the sod in the first leg of the play. Irish import #5 Fiery Lucy (3-1) will make her seasonal and stateside debut in the affair in her first for conditioner Brendan Walsh. The dark bay daughter of Without Parole had a nice juvenile season, and while her sophomore campaign was a bit uneven, I feel as though she will be ready to fire a big one in a winnable race. She has displayed early interest on occasion in the past and will sit close to a moderate early pace prior to sprinting home in the lane with Pietro Moran in the stirrups. 

Race 9 – Plate Trial S.

The 1 1/8-mile event on the Tapeta attracted a well-matched field of 12 in a challenging middle leg of the sequence. #4 Military Time (2-1) is the deserving morning-line choice for Casse. The Gun Runner colt comes into his third run off the layoff with a pair of strong efforts in 2026, and he wouldn’t be a surprise with Fraser Aebly in the irons. 

I’ll also include the pair of outside contenders in the field with recent maiden winners #11 Powell River (8-1) and #12 Baaeed Alynna (10-1). 

Race 10 – Woodbine Oaks

The $500,000 affair for three-year-old fillies attracted a cast of seven, and I feel that the affair will come down to a pair of contenders in the closing piece. Three-time stakes queen #1 Piper’s Gift (5-2) and recent Selene (G3) heroine #7 Luster (6-5) look like standouts to me in the lucrative tilt, and I will have confidence in cashing my ticket if I am alive in the penultimate stakes race on the big card.
