Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies -- Yellow Agate

Yellow Agate – 2-2-0-0, $285,000
Owner: China Horse Club
Trainer: Christophe Clement
Jockey: Manny Franco
Yellow Agate brings a two-for-two mark into Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, and the bay lass could exit the event unbeaten.
She kicked off her career at Belmont Park on September 11, taking a six-furlong maiden by a half-length to earn a 93 BRIS Speed rating. The Gemologist filly stalked in midpack all the way into the stretch before kicking into gear and just running down the pacesetting favorite in the shadow of the wire.
Yellow Agate was sent off at 32-1 in her debut win but was bet down the 6-5 favorite when facing stakes company in the Frizette Stakes (G1) next out. The Kentucky-bred stayed in contact with the closely bunched field, but had only one beat on the backstretch and heading into the turn. She picked up the pace rounding the bend while widest of all and chased long-time leader Libby’s Tail throughout the lane.
Libby’s Tail was stubborn and dug in to repel her rival’s run. Yellow Agate didn’t look like she was going to get there but inched forward to just stick her head in front on the wire.
The Christophe Clement trainee will stretch out a bit more on Saturday but has proven she has the heart, determination and sheer obstinance to get the win in the Juvenile Fillies.
