An overflow cast of 17 two-year-old fillies has been entered for Friday’s $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) at Keeneland. The 1 1/16-mile lawn affair is led by the imposing #9 Sun Goddess (6-5) for conditioner Aidan O’Brien.
Sun Goddess – With
- $1 Superfecta: 9 with 1,10,12 with 1,10,12 with ALL ($66)
Sun Goddess – Against
- 50-cent Trifecta: 1,10,12 with 1,9,10,12 with ALL ($54)
- $2 Exacta: box 1,10,12 ($12)
By Sioux Nation, the Sun Goddess has been fantastic this campaign, compiling an 8-6-2-0 mark, led by strong victories in the Phoenix (G1), Moyglare Stud (G1), and most recently, the Cheveley Park (G1) at Newmarket. The exquisite bay has never run past seven-eighths in her lifetime, but her connections are confident this voyage is well within her scope, and she will be difficult to upend if she has clear sailing in the heat with regular rider Ryan Moore in the stirrups.
French import #10 Amusingly (7-2) is a neck shy of being unbeaten in her three-race career and rates as a major conender in her U. S. debut. The Juddmonte homebred from the superb Graffard shedrow made pretty easy work of her foes in the Jean-Luc Lagardere (G1) at Longchamp last time, and the daughter of No Nay Never gives the impression of a filly that will thrive with the added ground on Saturday. Colin Keane will guide the February foal.
Chad Brown’s #12 Domestic Agenda (8-1) might be the best of the fillies based in North America, and I feel that she will be a major contender with any improvement in her Keeneland unveiling. The American Pharoah chestnut was a bit green in her debut tally at Saratoga, but she looked like a pro second time out when crushing her foes in the Miss Grillo (G2) at Belmont Park on Oct. 3. She could be a star in the making and will have Flavien Prat on board.
Group 1 victress #1 Green Empress (10-1) has had no luck trying to take down Sun Goddess this season, but the Joseph O’Brien pupil has been first or second in every lifetime run to date and can’t be ignored in her U. S. debut. The Saxon Warrior filly will be a threat in the lane if she can navigate a good trip from the rail in the huge field under Dylan McMonagle.
