A full field of fillies and mares will go 1 3/16 miles over the Keeneland green in Saturday’s deep, $2 million Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1).
Nine of the 14 ladies in the main body of the field boast top-level victories in what promises to be a superb rendition of the affair. Beyond the quality and depth of the cast, it becomes an even more challenging handicapping puzzle because many of the major players in the field have done their best work at trips at, or around, one mile.

Juddmonte’s #12 Blue Bolt (5-2) is six-for-six this campaign and will look to cap a sensational 2026 with her fifth top-level victory in succession for trainer Andrew Balding. The four-year-old daughter of Blue Point is 9-for-12 in her lifetime with two seconds, and if she proves capable of going this distance on her first try at it, then she will be very difficult to defeat in her current form. Colin Keane will pilot the exquisite Irish-bred.
#4 Red Letter (12-1), also a Juddmonte color bearer, might be a cut below her stablemate but she will thrive at the distance, and the Group 3 heroine is no slouch in her own right. By the mighty Frankel, the Ger Lyons charge had a nice prep for this, with a clear third at The Curragh most recently, and the gray has excellent value in the tilt. Dylan McMonagle inherits the mount.
Chad Brown’s #5 Kathynmarissa (5-1) is three-for-four in 2026 and has been well managed this season to fire her best shot on Saturday. The American Pharoah five-year-old loves this kind of trip, and her substantial late kick will make her a dangerous commodity late under Jose Ortiz.
South African star #1 Gimme a Nother (10-1) is unblemished from three runs in 2026 and gets what could be a good draw on the fence for conditioner Graham Motion. The versatile mare could sit a very good trip while staying in range in a field without an abundance of pace signed on. She will have John Velazquez on board.
Aidan O’Brien’s dual Group 1 victress #11 Precise (7-2) and the consistently excellent #13 Lush Lips (12-1) are also logical in the fascinating contest.
