DeRosa Fires Last Two Bullets At UAE, Louisiana Derbys for Kentucky Derby Dream Bet

It hasn’t been a pretty Kentucky Derby Championship Series for me. I haven’t hit on any of my Kentucky Derby Championship Series qualifying bets, which could leave me on the outside looking in starting next week when the final round begins.
Creative would be a kind way of labeling my selections. Bistraya and Siding Spring in particular were front-end pace plays that didn’t work out. I took a shot with the lightly raced Zulu against Mohaymen but didn’t do the same with Shagaf against Sunny Ridge, Danzing Candy against Exaggerator/Mor Spirit, or Cupid against the Southwest rivals in the Rebel.
So what to do with my final two bullets? Thankfully, it’s not a positive ROI qualifying system. I can take the favorites in both races, only hit one, be negative for the series, but still be qualified for the final round (and more importantly, a clean betting slate)!
In the UAE Derby, I’ll go with Lani, whose connections have been bullish about a Kentucky Derby tilt since Triple Crown nominations came out in February. They need the points, so they need to do well here, and absent knowing much about this group beyond the UAE Oaks exacta and El Camino Real Derby winner, I’ll take the Japanese horse who’s meant to do well here.
