Does Hope 'Spring' Eternal As DeRosa Chases Kentucky Derby Dream Bet?

My attempt to qualify for the Kentucky Derby Dream Bet final round has not gone well. You might even say it hasn’t gone at all.

Five qualifying races have come and gone and with each of them came and went a $15 win bet on another loser. If there’s any laurel to rest on, it’s that my steady diet of losers has not included any chalk, and that will continue to be the case for at least another week, as I’m swinging for the fences in the $900,000 Rebel Stakes on Saturday at Oaklawn Park (click race name for FREE Brisnet.com Ultimate Past Performances).

The temptation was extremely strong to take Cupid, especially since he sports the fastest last-out Brisnet.com Speed Rating, a figure that has won three-year-old two-turn stakes 40% of the time dating back to 2012, but in the end the chance for a major score with Siding Spring was just more alluring.

So I will attempt to qualify for the final round of the Kentucky Derby Dream Bet and get into the black for the season with $15 to win on Siding Spring in the Rebel Stakes.

Why?

His last race wasn’t that bad finishing fifth after setting a blistering pace from an outside post in this three-year-old debut. Now he gets post relief in his second start of the season, and a more relaxed front-end experience combined with some development could pay nicely.

My full wagering strategy is actually to play Siding Spring across the board, but to qualify for Derby Dream Bet, your wager must be for $15 to win only. If you also want to play your pick to place and/or show, then make a separate wager from your $15 to win.
