Exotics Plays for the Beverly D. Stakes

A huge field of 12 fillies and mares will run 1 3/16 miles on the outer lawn in Saturday’s $500,000 Beverly D. (G2) at Colonial Downs. I really liked the easy Eatontown S. tally secured by #9 Gimme a Nother (9-2) in her seasonal debut and will back her in the affair for conditioner Graham Motion. The multiple Group 1 heroine has finished first or second in five of her six runs since importing to the U. S. and seems poised for a big 2026 season.

The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight has very good tactical foot with push-button acceleration, and I expect her to get a very good trip on Saturday with pace signed on to her inside. The six-year-old mare is proven at nine panels, and the move to this distance will be well within her reach with John Velazquez in the silks. 

Grade 3 queen #8 Stellify (3-1) reeled off four grassy wins in succession last season, topped by a victory in the Ladies Marathon (G3) at Kentucky Downs, prior to capping her four-year-old season in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1). The Justify five-year-old has no distance limitations and has trained in steady fashion in advance of an aggressive move off of the layoff in the affair. I expect Manny Franco to have the mare forcing the pace from the break in her seasonal and local bow. 

I’ll also include a pair of longshots for the verticals, including Grade 3 heroine #11 Fast Market (15-1). The John Terranova pupil reached new heights with the removal of blinkers last season and stretches out after two demanding tries at the Grade 1 level going one mile this year. The Volatile four-year-old will have Samuel Marin on board. 

Pegasus World Cup (G2) second #5 Crevalle d’Oro (12-1) is likely more of a miler type, but the D’Angelo trainee deserves a chance at 1 3/16 miles in this one. The Constitution mare has been rallying over the speed-favoring Gulfstream lawn in her latest appearances and will get a more honest run on Saturday. She drilled a bullet four panels from the gate in her latest morning move, as well.
