Exotics Plays for the Champions Day Turf Stakes

December 11th, 2025

A dozen Cajun-bred runners will go 1 1/16 miles on the Fair Grounds green in Saturday’s $125,000 Louisiana Champions Day Turf S. Multiple stakes winner #11 Allnight Moonlight (5-1) will have to overcome a wide post draw in the event, but the Samuel Breaux trainee has been first or second in four of five career runs on the sod and will be able to overcome it in his second local appearance.

Champions Day Exotics Wagers

  • $4 exacta 11 with 1,6,9 ($12)
  • $1 exacta box 1,6,9,11 ($12)
  • 50-cent trifecta box 1,6,9,11 ($12)

The five-year-old son of Ransom the Moon was an easy stakes winner in his lone prior local assignment in March and will relish the move back to the grass following a trio of dirt outings in succession. Bay gelding has a big turn of foot in a field with a fair amount of pace to aid his burst, and having Jose Ortiz in the stirrups is a benefit, too.

#6 Good and Stout (5-1) has never missed the exacta on the green in his lifetime, and the Carol Castille pupil was runner-up behind the top play in two stakes events earlier this season. The four-year-old colt has won or placed in nine races in succession and could offer value for the exotics with Marcelino Pedroza, Jr. in the silks.

Breaux’s #9 Woods N Water (12-1) makes his first run since March and will be a contender with his best performance on this occasion. The six-year-old son of Palace showed little in his last pair of outings, but his form was good prior to those races, and he shows a 7-3-2-1 mark at today’s distance. He won this event last season at a nice price and wouldn’t be a major surprise with Timmy Thornton on board.

#1 Letmikefigureitout (7-2) is a wildcard in the field, having never run on the lawn, but the Alan Klanfer pupil has won five of six races leading up to Saturday and has a lot of early speed from the fence. The four-year-old son of Daaher picked up his initial stakes win in wire-to-wire fashion on the main strip here in his latest venture and could move forward second time off the layoff. Devin Magnon will send the bay from the opening bell.
