Feature Races for Christmas Weekend

December 23rd, 2016

Well the Christmas season is upon us, so the feature races here will be cut down a bit with our changed schedule. Going for quality over quantity, we will have 4 races on Friday evening to look over, along with a pair on Saturday matinee to digest. Remember we will be closed for live racing on Saturday evening and Sunday, Christmas Day, but will make up for it with a special post-holiday double header on Monday December 26th.

Let’s look at the races for this weekend and see if we can get you some last-minute cash for those last-minute presents.

Friday evening – December 23rd, 2016

Race 7 – Puppy power in this one as the amazing upstart Js Armdndangerus is tearing races apart and coming home a winner more times than night. He rocketed up the grading ladder and is trying to make a mark at the top level. Look for a box to wire win. He will be stalk late by another tough pup, Pat C Merlin. Merlin also has taken to the track well and has won back to back races, and 5 of his last 6. At the wire, it will be close. Others to consider here include the gotta love the one box runner Lee Polly and the hot off a win runner Gs Humongous. (5-7-1-6)

Race 10 – Early speed on plenty in this race. Loads of greyhound will be vying for the front end and a chance to win, but only one will get the job done. Ww’s Holy Grail looks like the best of the best to the turn and in the end I think he has enough to hold on and win. Pushing the leader will be the early speeders Gs Valor from the outside and the 330 competitor Atascocita Deana from right next door. Everyone better watch out for Kelsos Lead Free in the stretch. This closer is posted well and hasn’t missed the money in 5 straight starts. (5-2-8-4)

Race 11 – This one is all about post position as Sheezsohot is a monster anytime that she draws outside. You don’t get any further outside than the 8 box, so she is right where she wants to be/ This solid A has not missed the money in 6 straight, including a win last time out from this post. Look for her to be closer early and take over late for the win. Putting up a challenge from the start will be the early leader Ww’s Lost Girl, but in the end, she will be just too short to hold on. Forget the last effort from Dutch Reagan, as he will find his closing speed and threaten again here, and don’t overlook Miss Margie either. Another closer with the rail, she could challenge late as well. (8-4-3-1)

Race 15 – Over to 660 for this one and we get a strong field to pick from. Back inside, you should like the chances of Herstal in this effort. This big time closer over 660 is almost unstoppable when she is around the conversation early on, and with the big breaker right next door, she will be too close not to win. Speaking of breaking, Gs Hal also drew well near the rail and should be unabated to the early lead in this effort. He is not short late, but should be OUTclosed in the stretch tonight. Don’t sleep on the multi-stakes finalist over this distance Kk Whitezin, or the always in the money runner Pat C Dashboard from the rail. (3-2-8-1)

Saturday matinee – December 24th, 2016

Race 7 – A good race here were we get a mix of the themes from Friday evening. Loads of early speed on tap, but the puppy power will be just too much at the finish line. Pat C Randolph has taken the racetrack by storm and has not relented since getting to grade A. He is 12 of 13 in the money, including his last 6 straight races. He has yet to win in grade A, and today is the day. He must run down the solid A ankle burners, Craigie Testify and Hilco Spartan, if he wants to win, and if either steals too much of a lead, they could take the win at the wire. Late Kanes Bubba should contend as well from the near midtrack post position. (6-1-4-3)

Race 11 – Out and gone early on for the win, Former puppy stakes winner, Pullanallnighter, looks to wire this field on the front end. Breaking from a great post, and in a race with no other early speeder, I expect her to drive away the rabbit from the rest of this field and for her to hang on late for the victory. Did I mention that this is her favorite post? You get the drift. Trying to get to her before the wire will be the closers Rc Outahead from the rail and Shoot To Thrill from the outside, and don’t forget about the stalking chaser Pat C Ramlin either as he has been in the money in 9 of his 11 races at Orange Park. (8-1-6-4)
