5 Greyhounds To Watch
Welcome to another Southland monthly preview of the Five Up & Coming Young Greyhounds To Watch. September's selections certainly look like they will give a solid showing in the coming weeks and months as their young careers have already gotten of to a very good start. The only requirement that I use in selecting the 5 up and coming young greyhounds to watch each month is that they have no more then 10 official starts prior to being selected. Please check back as every two months or so I will give updates on the progress of our choices. Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
ARKANS WOMBAT - 4 starts - 1-2-1-0 - running in Grade D now - This young greyhound has hit the track running fast and hard and the results have been very good. If you include his 3 schooling races were he had a first, second and third place finish, this pup has never finished out of the top 3 in any of his races so far. He hasn't shown a lot of early speed in his young career but with a decent rush to the turn and a strong late move, he more then makes up for that. Has an inside running style and worthy of keeping in mind if you're looking for a solid play as he moves up the ladder. Next race - Aug 22 - Saturday evening - 4th race - 4 box
CASEY BALE - 2 starts - 1-0-1-0 - running in Grade D now - Solid start to her career with a very impressive 8 length win last time out. She had two nice schooling efforts, finishing 1st and 2nd, then in her first official race ran a strong 3rd before getting the win in her last race. Good early speed, strong run to the turn and has shown a decent kick down the stretch. Has a mid-track running style but appears able to run good from any box. Keep an eye on this one in the near future.
DS GINGER - 2 starts - 1-1-0-0 - running in Grade D now - She's a rail runner showing lots of early speed and once she gets the lead, looks to be tough to catch. Looked good in 2 schooling races and has continued that solid effort in her two official starts. Running in Race 4 on Thursday, August 20 from the one box.
KELSOS KILLER - 5 starts - 2-1-1-0 - running in Grade C now - A rail runner with a big rush to the turn, he's already shown the ability to overcome early trouble and challenge hard to the wire. A solid and talented young greyhound who has given 110% effort in each of his races so far, I look for that to continue in his bright future at Southland.
T'S MYER EPISODE - 6 starts - 2-2-2-0 - running in Grade C now - He's looking for 3 straight wins as well as trying to keep his streak of 6 straight top three finishes going. A mid-track runner who always seems to be in good position to make his move from the first turn onward, he'll definitely be a greyhound to watch over the next several months. Next race - Aug 22, Saturday afternoon - 4th race - 4 box
