Five of Larry Collmus' Great Racecalls

October 27th, 2016

Today in the BetAmerica Radio Network we were joined by NYRA and Breeders' Cup announcer Larry Collmus. You can listen to the interview HERE . Larry has had a diverse career of thirty years and has called many of the most important races around the country. Here are a few of my favorites.

1. American Pharoah's Triple Crown

This video has over 1.8 million views on Youtube, so it's likely one of the most viewed racecalls ever if you consider just how many people probably have watched it on all the multiple platforms. Larry rose to the occasion and delivered the passion and excitement we were all feeling watching history.

2. 2013 Breeders' Cup Classic

Mucho Macho Man won a thrilling three horse drive in the 2013 Classic and Larry was as fired up as I can ever remember him. A thrilling finish in this one.

3. The Wives

Arguably the call that made Larry a household name. Two horses with amazingly close names battling for the whole stretch drive and Larry turned the call into something that was shown on morning talk shows all across the country.

4. Cigar at Suffolk

It was huge news when the mighty Cigar ran at Suffolk Downs and a young Larry Collmus called the action as the best horse in the Country dominated the Mass Cap.

5. American Pharoah in the Classic

This was the great ending to a magical year for American Pharoah and I really think Larry put an amazing exclamation point on the race.
