Race 7 is technically an open, entry-level allowance, but all horses in the main body of the field are Louisiana-breds. Classy Bird (#5, 3-1) and Bluegrass Punch (#7, 5-1) both exit strong showings in higher-class allowances, while North Hullen (#4, 8-1) is a two-time winner over the track and distance and has the tactical foot to keep the speedy three-year-old True Emperor (#6) potentially honest. I'm also leaning against Hunker Down (#9), who seems more effective around one turn.

In Race 8, Brute Strength (#4, 2-1) looks tough coming off a narrow loss versus similar, but I'm also using Dixieland Native (#6, 5-1). He graduated and was stakes-placed here last summer, and also figures to have pace to chase in this comeback effort.
