Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 3/26/014

March 26th, 2014

by Palm Beach Jason

Many of Palm Beach’s superstars will be on display in the Wednesday Matinee performance. There also will be some real up and coming greyhounds worth taking a look at as well. 15 fantastic races to watch all day long. Here are the top races I will be following at “The Beach”:

Race 4 Class TA 301 Yards

The season wins leader at Palm Beach #6 KB’s Like A Foxwill be looking for win #29 and also to extend his current winning streak to 3.  Should get a serious test from the #2 Boc’s Cayenne, who just beat one of the world’s best in Bae Sang last time out.  Like a Fox does have a history of running inconsistent, but does look to be in top form right now. Also has won the last two times in the 6 box.

Picks 6 - 2 - 4 - 1

Race 12 Class A 545 Yards

North Shore Kennel’s Zonked just blazed a 29.61 sec win last time out and now is setup in a race between two slow breakers. Zonked should take the early lead in this one and hold on for his 2nd straight.

Picks: 4 - 3 - 8 - 7

Race 13 Class D 545 Yards

Normally I wouldn’t write about a Class D race, but a potential superstar in this one is worth watching. #5 Tebucky Jones from owner Steve Sarras has been tearing up the Royal Palm Course since the start of the month, winning his first 4 out of 5 races if you include schooling. He has the fastest schooling time I can remember when he bolted a 29.54 sec time in his first ever try.  This racer will eventually be transferring to Southland, but for now enjoy the rise of another New England Patriots namesake. Should roll in this one.

Picks: 5 - 2 - 7 - 1

Race 14 Class TA 660 Yards

The race of the day without a doubt.  Derby Champion #5 Flying Zinc has clocked the 2nd fastest time in history here in the 660 (37.30 sec) this season but has found it difficult to find the consistency to put together a winning streak. Biggest threat will be #7 Ghost Buster who has a dynamic rush and close for  B & B Racing. The wildcard will be #8 Flying Appletara, who surprised everybody by beating Zinc last time out. I’m going with the Derby Champ to take the rematch in this one.

Picks 5-7-1-8

Race 15 Class A 545 Yards

#3 JS SpeedyPebbles will be going for season win #20 in the finale here. With Rob Gronkowski now gone for Southland, this could become the top racer here in the next few months. She is the class of this field, but should see a challenge from the #6 Racin Rascle, who is coming off an impressive 29.63 sec win last time out. Sleeper here is #4 Hilco Score, who is coming off back to back wins, with the last one being by 7 and a half lengths. I like Pebbles to get it done here.

Picks: 3 - 6 - 4 -7

Top Pick 12th Race: #4 Zonked
