Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 4/18/2014

April 18th, 2014

by Palm Beach Jason

Time to get the weekend started, where the superstars will be on display all weekend here at Palm Beach.  The Puppy Stakes Semi-Finals get going during the Saturday Matinee, so the Friday cards will have to tide you over until then, Here are the top races I will be following today at “The Beach.”

Race 4 Grade TA 301 Yards

The drag race with a twist has #5 Liberty Trail in a race that she should win. After battling some of the tracks’ best Super Sprinters for over a month, the veteran in her 90th race at Palm Beach will get out here and go box to wire in under 17 seconds against an underwhelming field. May see a challenge from the A graders #6 WW All of A Sudden and #7 Abenakee, who are both too light on the win percentage to pick for the top spot.

Picks: 5 - 6 - 2 - 7

Race 8 Grade C 545 Yards

Anybody else surprised #2 Tebucky Jones is still in the C Grade? I know it has only been 8 races in his young career, but I really thought this racer would be pushing for the top grade by now. After two straight losses at the wire, the Steve Sarras owned hound is setup to go in this one with two slow breakers to each side and not a ton of class to show.  Tebucky gets the win here and continues the march toward the top class.  #6 Budz Masquerade has hit the ticket almost 50% of her races this season and is a must play in your exotics.

Picks: 2 - 7 - 5 - 4

Race 11 Grade B 545 Yards

You want to see some fire out of the gate? #1 Superior JebBush gets the hot 1 box to bolt out of for the first time in his young career and that is bad news for the competition with the way he flips the lid.  #7 Wrap It Up is the other early stepper from Agganis Kennel but loses steam when the stretch comes. Won’t be able to handle any pressure that Jeb puts him. The former Florida governor named greyhound moves on to the top level after this race. A potential superstar to keep your eye on without a doubt.

Picks: 1 - 4 - 7 - 3

Race 15 Grade A 545 Yards

The race of the day on this card.  Wide open field here that has a few different greyhounds you could go with for your exotics. I’m going with #6 Kiowa Frank Lazy for the win from the Douglas Racing Team because of the late gas he has on the backstretch.  #5 Magic Buster will lead this with that early steppin but has a gigantic track record of coughing up the lead at the wire.  #3 Enkludid is the wild card, with a recent 29.35 second blazer on 3/31 but has been inconsistent in the top class.  Frank Lazy gets her 15th win this season.

Picks: 6 - 5 - 7 - 3
