Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 4/19/2014

April 19th, 2014

by Palm Beach Jason

Superstar Saturday is back at Palm Beach, with 15 exciting races for your weekend playing.  3 top Grade A fields highlight this card, which will have some of the best greyhounds at this track racing.  Here are the top races I will be following for the Matinee at “The Beach.”

Race 4 Grade TC 301 Yards

The drag race with a twist has #3 San Tan Snuggles dropping down in class into a situation that she has thrived on in her race history. The last three times the Steve Gilster Kennel racer has been in this class, a notch in the win column happened. I like her again her but should see an initial push from fellow “C Grader #4 Oh Mamma. Is too light in the win column to fire on for the W, but should make your exotics.

Picks: 3 - 4 - 6 - 8

Race 8 Grade B 545 Yards

Love when those top Grade dogs drop down to the Junior Varsity Circuit, also known as “B” grade. #7 Google Search does that here and faces a field where I am not seeing a whole lot of race success out of many of them. Google is going for 12 wins this season and has an excellent shot of going box to wire. #2 Paid Informer has made the ticket the last three races and almost 60% this season and should get out in front early to compete.

Picks: 7 - 2 - 8 - 1

Race 12 Grade A 545 Yards

#7 CRT Yusef was in the my Top 10 Rankings for March and probably will do so again this month. 21 wins for The Champions Racing Team hound and possess one of the best closes at this track. Sitting mid-track where he thrives and I like for the win here. #5 Turbo Fire Break does just that out of the box but will cough up any lead on the backstretch. #8 AMF Bombs Aflyin may be a longshot sleeper with the prime box and coming off a win last time out.

Picks: 7 - 5 - 8 - 2

Race 15 Grade A 660 Yards

When I was at Palm Beach last weekend, I saw #1 JS Dogie Doo escape his handler and run halfway around the other side of the oval before the race even started. He proceeded to bolt out when the lid flipped and go box to wire for the easy win. I wonder what would have happened if he had all of his energy? We find out here, where he sits in the prime 1 box to fire out of. Should see a huge challenge from #8 Flying The Who, who just won out of the 8 box last time out.  I could see either dog winning this, but I am going with Dogie Doo for the setup. Maybe the handler will let Dogie Doo do a prerace lap again since it seemed to work last time.

Picks: 1 - 8 - 2 - 6

Top Pick: #7 CRT Yusef

Watch out for rookie sensation #6 Ben Affleck making his first appearance in Grade A for the 14th.
