Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 4/29/2014
by Palm Beach Jason
We are back at Palm Beach, where 15 more fantastic races are on tap for your Tuesday entertainment. Big Race 14 that has some of the best early speed greyhounds around is the highlight of the card, but there is also other good plays and races to watch. Here are the top races I will be following for the Matinee at “The Beach.”
Race 4 Grade C 545 Yards
Anybody else feel a little down when there are no Super Sprints on the card that would usually be this race? Still a quality C Grade watch here, where #4 Wrap It Up from Agganis Kennel is the grade drop that should pop. Has a dynamic rush but has been a bit short in the upper class. I’m not seeing a closer here that can catch him if he gets to the turn first. #1 Atascocita Fab is a Stakes tested former A Grader who gets the prime box and has hit the ticket 56% of the time this season and may contend.
Picks: 4 - 1 - 8 - 7
Race 6 Grade B 545 Yards
#4 Pat C Blackout from the Koppe, Staats & Collins team jumped off the page at me in this one. Grade dropping to the JV class and loves being mid track, where she will be starting. Already has 9 wins in her young career. Could be a possible puppy to watch out for when the Fall Puppy Stakes get going last this year. #6 TF St Pius is the other A Grader joining the party and has the best rush of this field. Probably hits the back of your ticket.
Picks: 4 - 6 - 2 - 3
Race 14 Grade A 545 Yards
The race of the day without a doubt.
I think #3 JS SpeedyPebbles took notice of me leaving her off my Top 10 rankings last month. Has 22 wins on the season and just reeled off 2 blistering W’s against top competition. Track announcer Dale Simons would say right now she is another “Nutha Level” then her competition. Will face two other possible upset specialists. #5 Super C Roxee may have the best rush at this track but is notorious for being short at the wire. #7 Oaks Tony Roman from the season wins leader Kennel Rader Racing team is a top puppy, who has finished in the trifecta in 11 of 13 career races. Pebbles is on fire and I can’t walk from the chalk here.
Picks: 3 - 5 - 7 - 1
Race 15 Grade B 660 Yards
#5 L Wonderwoman is a top A Grader who is dropping down to the lower class in this one and won’t be here for very long. Has a history of runaway victories in this class and has a great shot in this one for the win. #8 Kiowa Raphael is the other class dropper but has not fared well out of the outside box in his history. #3 Superior Kissee from B & B Racing has been consistently in the 38 second range for going on 2 months and probably is a good add in your Tris/Supers.
Picks: 5 - 8 - 3 - 2
Top Pick: Race 15- #5 L Wonderwoman
