Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 4/30/2014
by Palm Beach Jason
The last racing day of April brings us 15 more fabulous races for our entertainment today at Palm Beach. Very competitive card, with many of the racers going today not being household names, which can lead to some nice payouts for the players. Here are the top races I will be following for the Wednesday Matinee at “The Beach.”
Race 4 Grade TB 301 Yards
The drag race with twist is back after taking a day off yesterday at Palm Beach. The 1 box has been the hot box here for a very long time and this race should be no different. #1 Oh Mamma from owner Cheyenne Criswell just finished second last race to season wins leader KB’s Like A Fox and is in a race where the win percentages for the rest of the racers is very low. Also just smoked a 16.66 sec W two races back. #3 Gable Expresso has hit the ticket over 50% of the time this season and should be on your tri/supers plays here.
Picks: 1 - 4 - 3 - 8
Race 6 Grade B 545 Yards
When your brothers (Storm Control, Juggernaut) just went 1-2 in the Final of the Puppy Stakes, you are going to get noticed. #4 Submariner from B & B Racing has good blood lines, but also has some terrific game of his own. Drops down to B Grade here after being one of the upper dogs at the top level recently. Will see a serious threat from fellow grade dropper and Kennel mate #2 Racin Rascle, who loves the inside rail and already has 12 wins this season. #3 Flying Paingiver has two straight Place finishes and is a consistent board hitter.
Picks: 4 - 2 - 3 - 6
Race 8 Grade TD 660 Yards
Usually a Grade D race of any type here can be very difficult to handicap. Good news for me here is that a former A Grader has dropped way down to help me out. #7 Angela Mcglowan from the Brindle Kennel Team is the class of this field and is sitting between two greyhounds that are 0-34 all time for wins. #2 Pat C Ka Plooey is the other grade dropper that could threaten for the W, but just started at this longer distance 3 races ago.
Picks: 7 - 2 - 8 - 1
Race 15 Grade A 545 Yards
One of the more wide open top grade races you will see at this track. Many of these racers have rotated between the JV class and the top class, which makes for a lot of different scenarios. #2 AMF Bombs AFlyin from B & B Racing is a veteran racer who has reeled off 2 wins in 3 races, all under 30 seconds. Also is showing a strong close, in a field full of early speed faders. #6 Turbo Fire Break has a sweet name and a rush to crush, but that consistent fade at this level is too much to fire on for the W. Like her to hit the back of the ticket. The wildcard to watch out for is #7 JS Angel Touch who has 14 wins on the season and has been competitive at the top level for almost a year and a half. Bombs AFlyin closes another one out in the finale.
Picks: 2 - 6 - 8 - 1
Top Pick: Race 4 - #1 Oh Mamma
