Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 4/8/2014

We are back at Palm Beach for 15 more terrific races for your Tuesday watching. Only one day until the $20,000 Puppy Stakes tournament starts. Here are the top races I will be following for the Matinee at “The Beach.”

Race 6 Grade B 545 Yards

When looking at Grade B racers, one of the first things I look for is the grade drop that can pop.  The best one to get out in front is #3 NB’s Perazzi. Early speed is her game and has given up the lead the last two races at the wire. I’m not seeing any closers in this one catching the early speed. #5 R’s MyKindaCandy is the other grade dropper but has run very poorly this last month. May hit the back of the ticket. If anybody could challenge Perazzi for the win it would be #8 Pat C Undertaker with the prime box.

Race 10 Grade B 545 Yards

#6 Kiowa Precious from the Steve Gilster’s Kennel looks setup to go here. Last time she grade dropped in this box, went 29.49 for the 5 length win. Only concern I have is if she doesn’t get the lead, she may miss the whole ticket altogether with the all or nothing racing she has been showing. I still like her here to win because of the class.  #5 JS Mad Money is a Stakes tested top grade hound joining the party as well and should be in the hunt at the wire. A nice sleeper could be #8 Candy, who just won in this box at” C “Grade.

Race 12 Grade B 545 Yards

The greyhound I am watching in this one is #7 Ben Affleck. The Steve Sarras owned racer with a win here would get a chance in the top class after only 10 races this season. Look out for this one when the Fall Puppy Stakes are upon us. I think has a good chance in this one if he pops the lid like he has been. #6 Joey Instant going for 4 in a row has been a surprise since coming over from Derby Lane in December.

Race 15 Grade TA 660 Yards

This is the race of the day without a doubt.  The #2 Killer Sunshine and #3 Flying Zinc will be favored in this one and they should be. Sunshine has a knack for getting good inside boxes with that early steppin and that will be a big advantage against the slower breaking Zinc.  Sunshine should get the win here but you may want to play her win/place in case the 2014 Derby Winner Zinc sneaks in at the wire.
