Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 5/15/2014
by Palm Beach Jason
Tremendous card on tap for the Thursday card at Palm Beach, with some of the best greyhounds at this track slated to race. Wins leader KB’s Like A Fox goes for win #34 in Race 4, while a heavyweight matchup in the 15th sees Puppy Stakes Champ Storm Control taking aim at another W.
Here are the top races I will be following for the Matinee at “The Beach.”
Race 4 Grade TA 301 Yards
The drag race with a twist will have all eyes on Rader Racing’s #4 KB’s Like A Fox. Has almost guaranteed himself the Season Wins Title, with a seven race lead and the season ending on the last day of June. Already owns the super sprint time record of 16.38 secs (tied with Bae Sang). Has been superb on the super sprint course all season long.
Fox will see some good inside speed to contend with in #1 Liberty Trail in the prime box and #2 San Tan Sawbones, who has finished in the Quinela the last two times out.
Fox is too good this season to pass up and I will fire on again for the win.
Picks: 4 - 2 - 1 - 7
Race 12 Grade TD 660 Yards
This is unusual for me to like a play in a TD race, but #3 CRT Valor from the Champions Racing Team jumped off my race sheet immediately. The grade drop that should pop has 7 wins this season, which is a lot considering this field is very low on the win percentage. Not considering #6 Atascocita Merit, you have 6 racers with a combined four total wins this season (Yikes).
Valor is the class of this race and is a must play for the win from me.
Picks: 3 - 4 - 1 - 8
Race 15 Grade A 545 Yards
The race of the day without a doubt. Puppy Stakes Champ #3 Storm Control gets the same box he won the title in on 4/26 and is one of the premier racers currently at this track. One of the best lid flippers around, he will be going for win #17 this season for owner Steve Schlachter.
Will face a strong rush from #1 Turbo Fire Break from Rader Racing. Loves the inside and will certainly be near the front at the turn with that great early burn. Is a box to wire specialist and will need the lead to take this one.
Going with the Champ Storm Control for the win. Is due for a W after being out of the Winner’s Circle in two straight.
Picks: 3 - 1 - 6 - 7
Top Pick Race 4 - #4 KB’s Like A Fox
