Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 5/30/2014
by Palm Beach Jason
The weekend is here and I am ready for the action to get going today at Palm Beach. Superstars running here all weekend long, along with the return of the Marathon makes for awesome action to watch at one of the top greyhound tracks in the country.
Here are the top races I will be following for the Friday Matinee at “The Beach.”
Race 10 Grade TA 738 Yards
I will admit that the Marathon is starting to become one of my favorite things to watch at the track.
Maybe it’s because it is something new that hasn’t been done in a while. Or that it stretches these greyhounds out over a 40 second race. All I know is that I want it to stay and I am excited to watch it today and beyond.
#2 CRT Firecracker from The Champions Racing Team is the only one of this field that has actually won at this distance. Has finished 1st and 2nd in both of her Marathon runs and seems to really enjoy this distance. I like her here for the win but is going to face a serious test from #1 Dead Shot. Has 6 wins already in her young career, and gets the best box to fire from. Is making her debut at this distance and has a great chance of getting in the Quinela here.
Firecracker ends the month with a bang getting the Marathon W.
Picks: 2 - 1 - 3 - 5
Race 12 Grade B 545 Yards
One of my favorite racers here #5 Relativity from owner Chris Straka is back racing after a two week layoff. “Einstein” is second on the season wins list with 27 of them, is one of the top lid flippers at Palm Beach. He has been a joy to watch all season long.
Top challenger to Relativity’s welcome back is #3 Pat C Blackout. 29.46 second best time and has hit the board over 50% of the time this season. #6 Atascocita Padua from Suncoast Racing was an Irish Cup finalist last weekend, but really prefers the outside boxes to seriously consider for an upset here.
Relativity comes back to the track and gets win #28 on the season.
Picks: 5 - 3 - 6 - 7
Race 14 Grade A 545 Yards
The race of the day without a doubt.
The rivalry is renewed with #3 Juggernaut and #7 Yahoo Diablo. These two have had some classic races all month long, with close wire finishes between them in every race.
Juggernaut is considered by many to be one of the top racers here, but Diablo did beat him on 5/14, out of this same 7 box.
Won’t happen here. Juggernaut gets his 5th win of the month and continues the climb up the Rankings.
Time for Juggs to get a rematch with his brother, Puppy Stakes Champ Storm Control in the very near future.
Picks: 3 - 7 - 5 - 2
Top Pick Race 12- #5 Relativity
