Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 5/31/2014

May 31st, 2014

by Palm Beach Jason
Superstar Saturday is in full swing at Palm Beach, as some of the best greyhounds at the track will be going today and tonight.  Puppy Stakes Champ Storm Control looks to get back on track in Race 12, along with possibly the #1 racer here JS SpeedyPebbles in Race 14.  Fantastic card to end the month of May racing.

Here are the top races I will be following for the Matinee at “The Beach.”

Race 6 Grade B 545 Yards

The one to watch in this one is #8 Daphne Zuniga from Brindle Kennel.  Has come back from her time at Mardi Gras and looked tremendous back at Palm Beach with 3 wins in 4 chances.  Just went 29.55 secs out of this same 8 box last time out and is in a Grade B field that is very beatable.

#3 Superior Brinks is the hot rookie that could derail Zuniga’s rise back to the top class. With 2 wins in 5 tries here at Palm Beach, has the rush to be near the front in this one.  #7 Boc’s McDandy is a 66% board hitter and should be in any exotic plays.

Daphne Zuniga rolls back into the top class after a win here.

Picks: 8 - 3 - 7 - 4

Race 12 Grade A 545 Yards

The first of two Irish Cup rematches from Memorial Day starts in this one.

#1 Storm Control from owner Steve Schlachter was a huge favorite to take the Cup last Monday, but was outrushed and finished by #7 PJ Smoke Em Out.  This time though, Storm gets his favorite 1 box to fire out of, where he has won 3 straight and will be hard to beat on the rail.

Should be another battle for supremacy between these two top A graders. Puppy Champion Storm Control gets his revenge and takes the W.

Picks: 1 - 7 - 4 - 6

Race 14 Grade A 545 Yards

The race of the day without a doubt.

Is #8 JS SpeedyPebbles from owner Shannon Henry the #1 racer here at Palm Beach? Going for her 5th win this month and has won 62% of her races this season.  She too will be looking for revenge from last Monday’s Irish Cup.

#7 Jawa Bruiser is the best lid flipper at this track but is also one of the top faders at go time as well. Has coughed up the lead in the last 6 races, but did enough last time out to slow down Pebbles and her bid for the Cup.

#1 San Tan Spangled from Steve Gilster’s Kennel is the wildcard to watch out for. One of the top closers around, would absolutely have a shot at the win if he is near the front coming around for home.

SpeedyPebbles with her prime 8 box is too much to say no to.  She gets payback against Bruiser here.

Picks: 8 - 7 - 1 - 3

Top Pick Race 14 - #8 JS SpeedyPebbles

Make sure to watch the top two super sprinters in the country Bae Sang and KB’s Like A Fox in tonight’s marquee matchup Race 4.
