Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 6/11/2014
by Palm Beach Jason
Palm Beach has certainly given us a treat for the Wednesday racing card. Superstars Bae Sang, Juggernaut and Flying The Who all look to stay on top of their games today, as well as many other competitive races to follow all afternoon long.
Here are the top races I will be following for the Matinee at “The Beach.”
Race 4 Grade TA 301 Yards
What a super sprint we have here! One of the top racers in the country #3 Bae Sang from Rader Racing has hit the ticket 94% of the time this season. Has consistently topped the best here and Southland Park the past two seasons. Announcer Mike Jameson has told me that in all of the years he has worked at Palm Beach, this is the best super sprinter he has ever seen here.
Would usually be an automatic pick from me in these races, but #1 Its A Factor has stat lines lately that are too much to overlook. Just won by six lengths last time out in this same box and has a better season time (16.46 secs) than Bae Sang.
Another storyline is #2 Oh Mamma from owner Cheyenne Criswell is sister to Its A Factor. Love siblings racing against each other.
Bae Sang has too much experience to go against here, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Its A Factor took this one as well.
Picks: 3 - 2 - 1 - 8
Race 14 Grade A 660 Yards
The best middle distance racer at Palm Beach #7 Flying The Who from the Royal Racing Team goes for season win #17 in this one. Has won seven of ten and was just ranked #2 in my latest Palm Beach Top Ten Rankings for May.
Main threat to “The Who” winning this comes from the prime 1 box in Kiowa Kay Fannie. Just won out of this setup two races ago and has good early speed to contend here.
Wildcard is #5 WippaSnappa, who blazed the second fastest time of the season (37.52 secs) on this course on 5/13. Really prefers the outside post, but absolutely should be on your Quinela/Tri/Super plays.
Flying The Who continues to be the best at this distance after this race is won.
Picks: 7 - 1 - 5 - 8
Race 15 Grade A 545 Yards
The race of the day comes at us in the finale.
#1 Juggernaut from owner Steve Schlachter is possibly the top 545 yard racer at this distance. Loves the inside rail and gets the 1 box for only the third time in his career here at Palm Beach. Should take the lead at the turn in this one and power home for the W.
One interesting stat to look for in #8 Atascocita Padua is that she has won 7 of 8 from this outside box (88%) all time here. If it wasn’t for Juggernaut in this race, I would put Padua on top without a doubt.
Picks: 1 - 8 - 4 - 6
Top Pick Race 15 - #1 Juggernaut
