Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 6/17/2014
by Palm Beach Jason
Many of the top greyhounds for wins this season highlight the card for the Tuesday racing at Palm Beach. Two of the top racers here JS SpeedyPebbles and Atascocita Golda both go for season win #28 in Race 14. Racing should be fantastic again at one of the top tracks in the country.
Here are the top races I will be following for the Matinee at “The Beach.”
Race 9 Grade J 545 Yards
Only one thing draws me to Grade J races at this place….good puppy prospects.
#1 Mitey Loki from Rader Racing gets the prime 1 box to fire out of and is scheduled in a race where I’m not seeing a whole ton of talent from this field. Good step out of the box should put this one in the lead early.
Wildcard here in #4 Kin Do. Last time out, he won as one of the biggest longshots I have seen in quite some time at 50-1. Would be another shocker here if he upsets Loki.
Picks: 1 - 7 - 2 - 4
Race 12 Grade B 545 Yards
The grade drop that could pop is #2 Pat C Blackout from owner Patrick Collins.
Blackout will be making her third straight start in the lower class, which I am surprised at given how solid she has been all season. 29.46 secs best time and a 20% winner racing against the best this track has to offer.
Blackout will see challenges from #4 CRT Qadeer, who has won four of eight starts this season and #3 BFJ Rarity I Am, who has scored in the Trifecta in his last 4 starts.
Blackout is too talented to stay in this class any longer and gets back to Grade A where she belongs after this one.
Picks: 2 - 3 - 4 - 6
Race 14 Grade A 545 Yards
The race of the day without a doubt.
Both #4 Atascocita Golda and #3 JS SpeedyPebbles have had outstanding seasons. Tied for second place for wins with 27 W’s, both ladies have been a treat to watch at Palm Beach.
Mother’s Day Champ SpeedyPebbles looks to be in top form right now. Has blitzed three straight races, all way under 30 seconds and just bested Golda last time out. Golda has one of the top breaks at this track and has to be somewhere on your Exotic plays for sure.
#8 Super C Roxee from B & B Racing may have the best box setup here. Has previous success in the outside 8, but has looked very pedestrian the last two races, finishing a distant 7th in both. Wouldn’t surprise me at all though if the 24 time winner was near the front again.
SpeedyPebbles keeps her hot streak going and continues to impress after this one.
Picks: 3 - 4 - 8 - 5
Top Pick Race 9- #1 Mitey Loki
