Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 6/18/2014

June 18th, 2014

by Palm Beach Jason

We can officially say this is Superstar Wednesday at Palm Beach. When you have the best middle distance racer here in Flying The Who, one of the top super sprinters ever with Bae Sang and the hottest greyhound at the track in CRT Leyla, it’s hard to top this card. Should be a fantastic afternoon of racing to watch and play.

Here are the top races I will be following for the Matinee at “The Beach.”

Race 4 Grade TA 301 Yards

The drag race with a twist we call the super sprint has some heavy hitters in it today.

The best of this group and one of the top racers here #4 Bae Sang from owner Robert Hardison has been outstanding this season. Will be the favorite and should be.  A 68% winner and co-track record holder for time (16.38 secs) is getting back into top form and looks for season win #14 here.

Sang will face quite the test here.  #2 Oh Mamma from owner Cheyenne Criswell has finished in the Quinela in four straight and gets a prime inside box to fire out of.  Newcomer to the super sprint #3 San Tan Sawbones has been impressive in the past two performances and I like for a back of the ticket play here.

Bae Sang is the stud of this group and I can’t walk from the chalk.

Picks 4-2-3-5

Race 14 Grade TA 660 Yards

No question, the best middle distance racer currently at Palm Beach is #7 Flying The Who from the Royal Racing Team.  Going for five wins in six races, has dominated this place for almost 3 months.  Gets the same box she won out of last time out.  Her time was a little sluggish last race because of the slow track surface, so no worries there.

A tough field for “The Who” today.  #3 Wippasnappa prefers the outside boxes for this distance, but cannot be discount with one of the fastest times this season run (37.52 secs) a few weeks back.  #2 Wyzekraks from the North Shore Kennel is showing some real promise, hitting the trifecta in two straight.

Flying The Who gets season win #18 and keeps making it easier to say she is the best here at this distance.

Picks 7-2-3-1

Race 15 Grade A 545 Yards

The race of the day without a doubt.

The hottest racer at Palm Beach is #4 CRT Leyla from The Champions Racing Team.  Has won seven of nine races and is absolutely torching the track with her times of late.  Rare combo of dynamic rush and quality close will make it tough for most racers to contend with Leyla.

The top threat comes from the 1 box in #1 Racin Razzi.  Gets her favorite box to fire out of and has been known to steal races from early speedsters.  Will be in the mix around the curve for sure but won’t catch Leyla for the W.

Puppy prospect #6 Oaks Tony Roman already has 4 wins in his young career and is worth watching in this race.

Leyla continues to impress after another win here.
