Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 6/19/2014

June 19th, 2014

by Palm Beach Jason

Solid card on tap for the Thursday racing at Palm Beach.  15 fantastic races to watch and play all afternoon long, including the Grade A 14th that has JS Froot Loops running in it.  World famous track announcer Mike Jameson will be calling home the winners today.

Here are the top races I will be following for the Matinee at “The Beach.”

Race 1 Grade M 545 Yards

Hot puppy prospect #4 Hi Maintenance from Rader Racing is the one I am watching in this one. Ran poorly in her first race last time out, but was outstanding in her previous two schoolings before, blitzing under 30 second wins.  She should end the Maiden Madness today and continue the dominance of the young greyhounds from Rader Racing at this track.

Picks 4-8-7-6

Race 14 Grade A 545 Yards

Very competitive top class race.  The favorite will be #7 JS Froot Loops from owner Shannon Henry and she should be. Setup nicely on the outside and is also coming off a stellar performance last time out, winning in 29.69 secs. Has the top cook out of the box in this field and will be setting the pace here.

The biggest threat for another W is #5 Hoofing It from the Brindle Kennel, who will be looking to best Froot Loops after losing by just one length against her last time out.  Has the best close in this race and could steal this one if she is near the lead coming for home.

Wildcard is veteran #3 Budz Lava Girl, who has 16 wins of her own this season and has the ability to pop the lid if she decides to.

JS Froot Loops gets her second straight W in this one.

Picks 7-5-3-8

Race 15 Grade B 660 Yards

The race of the day without a doubt. Usually a lower class race wouldn’t get this distinction, but there is a ton of talent lined up here.

The Grade A hound dropping down that jumped off the page immediately is #7 Kiowa Kay Fannie from owner Vince Berland. Going for season win #15.  Was running stride for stride with the top talent here the last two months and will be making her first appearance in the lower class at this distance.

Fannie will need to get out quick because the best closer in this group #6 Kiowa Raphael will certainly be stalking.  37.92 secs best time and has been known to pick off early speedsters at the end of races.

#8 Boc’s Blazetone is the super rookie sensation to watch out for.  Bolted two straight wins under 38 seconds and looks to be a real up and comer at this distance.  Might have too much talent in this race to contend for another win, but has to be put on any Trifecta/Super plays here.

Kiowa Kay Fannie just holds on for victory in the finale.

Picks 7-6-8-3

Top Pick Race Race 14 - #7 JS Froot Loops
