Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 6/24/2014
by Palm Beach Jason
Excellent card for Tuesday’s racing action at Palm Beach. One of the real up and coming stars in Mad Holy Schmidt goes in Race 15, along with rookie greyhounds that could be a factor in the near future. Lots of wide open races today that could produce some sweet payouts on the board.
Here are the top races I will be following for the Matinee at “The Beach.”
Race 4 Grade C 301 Yards
The drag race with twist is a competitive one today, with a handful of racers that could take the W here.
#2 HS Jones from owner Bob Rosko is in the inside where he likes it and has ran well in the last three races, scoring in the Trifecta each time. The veteran has 21 wins all time here and has a history of winning in this class.
Will see a threat from #8 Nikita’s First, who just smoked a 16.72 secs win last time out. Hot rookie #4 Dena’s Mechele is grade dropping and gets the best box statistically for wins this season and should be on any Exotic plays you are going with.
Even numbers all around, with HS Jones taking it for me.
Picks: 2 - 8 - 4 - 6
Race 14 Grade B 545 Yards
Really like when the Grade A hounds drop down to the lower class. I especially am thrilled about it if the greyhound flies out of the box and gets setup in a fantastic spot to start.
#7 Daphne Zuniga from the Brindle Kennel is doing just that today. The 6 and the 8 next door have struggled to get moving early and Zuniga should take advantage.
#2 Dusty Lane is one to watch out for, as she has a Grade B win out of the 2 box a few weeks back. Has 10 wins of her own this season and will be near the front on the backstretch.
Can’t pick against Zuniga in this one, as she gets back to the top grade where she belongs.
Picks: 7 - 2 - 4 - 8
Race 15 Grade A 545 Yards
The race of the day without a doubt.
Is there any better racer name then Mad Holy Schmidt here at Palm Beach? I like Relativity, Fly Derek Jeter and Storm Control’s names as well, but Schmidt’s is my top one for sure.
To the race we go. Holy Schmidt is looking for two straight and has really shined in his rookie campaign. Would get to a 50% winning percentage with a W in this one and gets the prime 8 box to fire out of.
#1 Kebo Kool Taboga from top Kennel Rader Racing has the best chance to topple Schmidt. Excellent flip the lid ability and has run with the top talent at this track for over six months.
Close call between these two for me, but I’m going with Schmidt to catch Taboga at the wire in the Finale.
Picks: 8 - 1 - 7 - 3
Top Pick Race 14: #7 Daphne Zuniga
