Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 7/17/2014
by Palm Beach Jason
Fantastic racing action is headed our way for the Thursday card at Palm Beach. The Queen of Palm Beach JS SpeedyPebbles will have all eyes on her for the finale 15th, as she looks to stay undefeated on the new season. Many other superstars including Atascocita Golda and Relativity will line it up today as well.
Here are the top races I will be following for the Matinee at “The Beach.”
Race 12 Grade A 545 Yards
If early speed is your liking at this track, this race is full of greyhounds that have it. Problem is that if you are looking at their lines, they all have huge fades come go time.
#2 Wuh Chowt from the North Shore Kennel has been in this top class since late May and has coughed up the lead in almost all of them. No doubt will lead again today, but that fade has her only in my Quin/Tri/Super plays.
The best closer of this bunch is #6 Racin Razzi from B & B Racing. Coming off an impressive 29.67 secs blazer last time out and is the best board hitter at Palm Beach with a whopping 93% hit rate.
Wildcard is #4 Atascocita Fab, who has scored in the Trifecta in seven of her last 8 races.
Razzi closes out the early burners and gets her 12th win here.
Picks 6-2-4-1
Race 14 Grade B 545 Yards
The grade drop that will pop here is #2 Relativity from owner Chris Straka. Sittin pretty in her favorite inside position, the 27 time winner is racing back into shape after a break at the end of last season. Grade dropping here will suit him nicely.
The other grade dropper to keep your eyes on is #5 Tarheel Dan. Loves mid track and was highly competitive in the top class.
“Einstein” gets back to the top class where he belongs after this one.
Picks 2-5-1-3
Race 15 Grade A 545 Yards
The race of the day without a doubt.
I don’t believe there is any more debate about who the top greyhound is at Palm Beach anymore. That title now rests with #4 JS SpeedyPebbles from owner Shannon Henry. The 31 time winner hasn’t missed the Quinela since April and will look for her third straight victory today.
Pebbles will have her hands full in this one with #1 Atascocita Golda. Rarely does she get the prime 1 box to fire out of but her history shows she has won 89% (7 of 8) from here. Battled Pebbles twice last month and wasn’t able to hold the lead against her. The same thing probably happens again here.
Pebbles continues her takeover of Palm Beach and takes home another win for the Koppe, Staats & Collins team.
Picks 4-1-6-8
Top Pick Race 14 - #2 Relativity
