Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 7/24/2014
by Palm Beach Jason
Terrific Thursday greyhound action comes our way for this afternoon at Palm Beach. Most of the superstars at the track are racing this weekend, so that opens the door today for the up and coming rookies to take the spotlight. There will be some exciting races with world famous announcer Mike Jameson calling home all the winners for all of us to enjoy.
Here are the top races I will be following for the Matinee at “The Beach.”
Race 4 Grade TC 301 Yards
It is well known at Palm that the 1 box for the super sprint is the best box to fire out of statistically.
#1 Flying Metalleaf from owner Vince Berland should reap the benefits of the rail spot today. Last time in this setup a few races back, blazed a 16.89 secs box to wire victory in her first official race at this distance. She looks to have the best fire out of the box of this field.
#7 Kruza from the North Shore Kennel could contend on the outside. A strong place finish last time out, he has placed in the Trifecta every time so far this season and looks to have the only class on the outside.
Upset could also come from #4 B’s Yoda who had 7 wins of his own last season.
Metalleaf is in too nice of a spot to fire on anything else here for the win.
Picks 1-7-4-3
Race 9 Grade J 545 Yards
Not very often will you look at a program and see this many 1’s across the line for a greyhound just starting out their career. #2 JB’s Freestyle has rolled in his first three appearances at work here at Palm Beach. The Brindle Kennel potential star is setup again to go here, sitting between two dogs that sit in the box and a field of very underwhelming racers.
The only ones I can see possibly pulling an upset here are #7 Atascocita Woody or #8 Craigie Jamboree. Both have showed occasional brilliance, but their performances are too all over the place to fire on for a W.
Freestyle continues his early success and gets the win here.
Picks 2-7-8-3
Race 15 Grade A 545 Yards
The race of the day without a doubt.
Palm Beach has given us a stellar finale to watch with the young A Graders getting a chance to shine today.
#3 Circle Unbroken will be going for 3 in a row today after a surprise victory last time out. Has hit the board 73% of the time in his career here at Palm. Likes the inside and has a great chance to take the rail immediately at the start.
#6 IllTakeMyChances from the Royal Racing Team has been impressive since coming off an extended break last month. Under 30 secs in the last 3 starts and is sitting mid track just where he wants to be. #5 Gez Jacked Up has two wins in the month of July and should hit the exotic pay sheet today as well.
I’m going with Circle Unbroken to get three straight here.
Picks 3-5-6-8
Top Pick Race 9 - #2 JB’s FreeStyle
