Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 7/31/2014

July 31st, 2014

by Palm Beach Jason

I can’t believe we are already through a full month of the new season here at Palm!  The action should be great today on the final day of July, with two Grade A features and plenty of competitive races to watch all afternoon long.

Here are the top races I will be following for the Thursday Matinee at “The Beach.”

Race 12 Grade A 545 Yards

One of my favorite racers from last season #8 Relativity from owner Chris Straka goes for his 32nd career victory today.  “Einstein” is just starting to race back into shape after an extended break at the end of last season.  Looked impressive last time out, bolting a 29.74 secs going away victory in B Grade.

#7 Taylo Ice from top Kennel Rader Racing will be the biggest threat to Relativity getting to the winner’s circle today.  Has the ability to pop the lid with the best of them here and also can close on occasion.  #3 AMF Drumbeat will lead this one, but is notorious for coughing up the lead come go time.

I’m going with Taylo Ice to just hold off Relativity at the wire today.

Picks 7-8-2-3

Race 14 Grade B 545 Yards

Great chance today to see one of the biggest puppy prospects going at Palm Beach. #1 Flat Richard from owner Norm Rader has been smoking the fields he’s been in so far in his career, already taking four wins in five starts.  Gets the 1 box again today, where last time out he scorched a 29.69 secs W.

Many top Grade A talent is dropping down to the junior varsity class to challenge the rookie sensation.  #2 Kiowa Frank Lazy from the Douglas Racing Team had 17 wins last season, along with hitting the board 60% of the time.  Prefers mid-track, so a win in probably unlikely out of this setup.

Wildcard is #3 Superior Madonna, who bolted an 8 length victory last time she was in this Grade.

Flat Richard continues an impressive start to his career, taking the win today.

Picks 1-2-8-3

Race 15 Grade A 545 Yards

The race of the day without a doubt.

#1 Atascocita Fab from Suncoast Racing has been in the trifecta in 66% of her starts this season and gets the prime inside box to fire out of today.  Has a very talented field to contend with if she hopes to take home the W in this one.

#5 KB’s Key To Win has three wins already this season, including a three length win last time out.  Interesting note though….she hasn’t been able to put together consecutive wins since April.  Look out for #2 Rica, who has the best fire out of the box in this field and could steal this one if there is trouble behind her.

Atascocita Fab in the prime box I cannot stray from.  She ends the card with a win in the finale.

Picks 1-5-2-8

Top Pick Race 14-  #1 Flat Richard
