Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 7/3/2014

July 3rd, 2014

by Palm Beach Jason

What a fantastic card on tap for Thursday’s action at Palm Beach.  The hottest puppy on the planet Albatross will look to continue his Ladder climb in Race 6, along with the best lady here JS SpeedyPebbles looking for career win #30 in Race 14.  World famous track announcer Mike Jameson will be calling the winners home all afternoon long.

Here are the top races I will be following for the Matinee at “The Beach.”

Race 6 Grade B 545 Yards

This may be the most hyped Grade B race I’ve seen in quite some time.

All the focus will be on #2 Albatross from Rader Racing, who will look to stay undefeated in his career.  Is getting compared to the great Rob Gronkowski, but it’s way too early to be making that case.  “Ross” has looked outstanding though, with all 4 wins going way under 30 seconds and pulling away from his competition.

Albatross will have his biggest test yet today.  #4 Bayside from the North Shore Kennel has 10 wins of his own and can close out early speedsters with the best of them.  #6 CRT Liberty is the recent grade drop and was a 72% board hitter last season.

Going with the hot rookie Albatross for the win, which will set him up to complete the Ladder next week.

Picks 2-4-6-3

Race 12 Grade A 545 Yards

#1 JS SpeedyPebbles has a new fan with my editor at BetAmerica Molly Jo Rosen.

After looking at my Top 10 races from last season and seeing Pebbles all over that list, Pebbles is starting to attract attention from all over the place.  The 29 time winner gets a chance to show off from the prime 1 box today against an underwhelming field.

Best chance for any upset here comes from #8 Daphne Zuniga from the Brindle Kennel.  Has some recent success from this box and can fly out of it on occasion.  Wildcard is #2 Racin Rascle who has won his last two races from the 2 box.

The best lady at “The Beach” SpeedyPebbles starts this new season right with another win. Will she be the 2014-2015 season wins champ?

Picks 1-8-2-3

Race 14 Grade A 545 Yards

The race of the day without a doubt.

The public is going to lay most of their money on #8 Kiowa Carmen and #1 Submariner to win.  Both look to be setup to go but upon further research, both have done very poorly in this setup in previous races.  That’s where I look for longshots.

#5 Oaks Tony Roman from top Kennel Rader Racing is in a sweet spot mid track. Has the rare combo of solid rush and close and has finished in the Quinela in 4 of his last 5.  I’m always pulling for #7 Fly Derek Jeter from owner Vince Berland, but this field is too talented to think he may do anything but hit the back of the ticket.

Tony Roman pulls the stunner here.

Picks 5-4-1-2
