Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach For 8/21/2014

Great card on tap for the Thursday racing action here. Two Grade A classics highlight the best races, including one of the season win leaders Gez Jacked Up going for his 7th W of the year in Race 14. Superstars CRT Leyla, PJ Smoke Em Out & Kiowa Carmen will also race for glory this afternoon.Here are the top races I will be following for the Matinee at “The Beach.”
Race 4 Grade TB 301 Yards
The drag race with a twist is a competitive one today. Anytime you don’t have the top 2 super sprinters here KB’s Like A Fox or Bae Sang running, the field is usually wide open.
#2 Nikita’s First from the newly arrived Janie Carroll Kennel looks to have the best pop out of the box here. 75% board hitter and just blazed a 16.94 secs win a few times back. Will see challenges from #3 WildersHugeHeart & #4 Oh Mamma.
The inside box position of Nikita sells it for me. He gets his third win of the season.

Race 6 Grade A 545 Yards
Without question, #1 PJ Smoke Em Out from the Agganis Kennel is the top rusher of any greyhound here in the sprint. The problem is that he also is prone to coughing up the lead at go time. It has happened the last two races. "Smokey" has also seen his race times climb the last three races as well. I'm looking for a closer to pick him off at the end.
SpeedyPebbles’ sister #4 JS Froot Loops has really stepped up her game this season. Dynamic closing ability and has the top time of any racer here this year (29.40 secs). Arguably has the top backstretch stride at the track and is one greyhound you don't want on your heels coming for home.
#3 Kiowa Carmen from the Royal Racing Team was in my Top 10 in July but has cooled off this month. Risks being demoted to B Grade if she can’t hit the ticket here, but is always a threat for a win with four of them this season.

#2 Gez Jacked Up from Suncoast Racing will be looking to take over sole possession of the wins lead today. Has been a surprise posting a 60% win percentage so far. Really prefers mid track, so this box setup does not help his chances.
#7 CRT Leyla from The Champions Racing Team is one of the most consistent racers at Palm Beach. Hasn’t missed the ticket since April and is a 20 time winner here. Last time in this 7 box…crushed a 29.57 secs country mile victory. No question she will be near the top of my August Rankings when they come out in a few weeks.
Wildcard is #8 Oaks Tony Roman, who may get a nice price on the outside and has the ability to upset this field.
Leyla powers home her 5th season victory today.
