Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 8/5/2014

August 5th, 2014

by Palm Beach Jason
Great action is coming our way for the Tuesday afternoon racing here.  All fans of this track are on Ladder Watch, as JB’s Freestyle rolls into Race 12 undefeated in his young career but will get the biggest challenge he has seen yet today.  Many other outstanding races will be on tap at the largest handling greyhound track in the country.

Here are the top races I will be following for the Matinee at “The Beach.”

Race 6 Grade A 545 Yards

Must be tough to be JS SpeedyPebbles sister sometimes.

#1 JS Froot Loops from owner Shannon Henry can’t escape the shadow that is her world famous sister, but she will get a chance today to make her own story.  Has blazed two straight races out of the 1 box, hitting the Quinela in both starts and just missed out on the W last time out.

#7 Taylo Ice is also sittin pretty in her favorite mid-track box.  Just beat a top field from this setup last time out and is already going for his 4th win of the young season.  Will have the outrush #8 Kaias Red Brave from the Royal Racing Team to the turn to have any chance of taking home another win.

Going with Froot Loops to get her 14th career win in what should be a tight finish at the end.

Picks 1-7-8-2

Race 12 Grade B 545 Yards

The Ladder watch is on as #2 JB’s Freetsyle from the Brindle Kennel attempts to successfully climb from Maiden to Grade A without losing a race.  Has cleared the turn in each start he has ran so far in his young career, but can he do that today against this field? I’m not counting on it.

#5 Magic Buster has some of the best fire out of the box at Palm Beach, which will put a ton of pressure on Freestyle immediately out of the gate. Buster is notorious for coughing up leads at go time, so a closer is what I always look for against him.

#3 Flying Annan from owner Vince Berland could be the grade drop that could pop. Has the close to reel in early speedsters and is a ten time winner from last season.

Annan stops the Ladder climb and gets the win for the Royal Racing Team.

Picks 3-2-8-5

Race 13 Grade C 545 Yards

The grade drop that should pop today is #4 HS Twinkle Toes from top Kennel Rader Racing.  Is one of the only early steppers in this entire field and also has the most class, with 6 wins in only 32 starts.

Biggest threat to Twinkle Toes dominating this one could come from hot shot rookie #7 Krispy Kreme, who is coming off an impressive 29.76 secs win last time out.  Has never won in Grade C, so I am only putting her in for a board shot today.

Twinkle Toes gets the job done this afternoon.

Picks 4-7-3-2

Top Pick Race 13- #4 HS Twinkle Toes
