Greyhound Preview - SOUTHLAND 10/8/14
Race 1 - Grade M - 583 yard course
I'm going with the (1) Yakiteyak who is running in her first official race but who has looked very good in her last two schooling contests where she won them both going box to wire and winning each by five lengths. I think she hits the lid, gets the early lead and holds on for the win. The (5) Beale St Review and the (6) Oshkosh Fella both have shown some early speed as well as a late move down the stretch so I will use both of them as well as the (3) Arkans Pumpkin who likes the inside.Pick 1-5-6-3
Race 6 - Grade D - 583 yard course
Here the pick is the impressive young pup (5) Avery Odell who has two schooling wins along with a win in her first official start and she's gone box to wire in each one. Going to stay with her until she loses as she has shown tons of potential in her very young career. I look for the (2) Kiowa Dot DJ to challenge her early as he is 10 of 15 in top four finishes and likes it inside as well as having shown early speed in several of his races. To finish the tri and superfecta plays I will use both the (6) In My Memory who is coming off a big 11 length schooling win and the (1) Eye Pleasing who likes the rail and may find a running lane inside.Pick 5-2-6-1
Race 15 - Grade B - 660 yard course
The key here is the (4) Flying Tigerbaby who I think wins this one at the wire. She has a win and four place finishes in her last six races and ran a strong race last time out coming from last place to finish second. I like her effort and strong rush and I look for her to find running room early and be in good position to pick up the win. The (8) PJ Inthemoney likes it mid to wide and will be out fast and the (5) Flying Philomena is coming off a nice win last time out so these two should be the main challengers. The (2) Boc's Missle is capable of early speed and I'll use him in the tri and superfecta plays.Pick 4-8-5-2
The Moneymaker play of the evening is in the 10th race, a Grade C contest over the 583 yard course and the pick is the (1) Cam Dynamite who has four top four efforts in his last six races and I think the inside post should be the edge he needs here for a big race and a nice finish. The odds should be very good on him and he's worth giving a shot here.
Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.ADVERTISEMENT
