Greyhound Preview - SOUTHLAND 8/28/14

August 28th, 2014

By MoneyMaker Mike

Race 2 - Grade C - 583 yards - I'm going with the (1) Bella Atlas as the key in this one as she likes the inside and both the 2 and 3 dogs like to get mid to wide so she should have an open running lane early, especially since she has decent speed right out of the box. I do like the (2) T's Highway Man as he's a double drop in grade but he will need to have a good break in order to avoid trouble getting to the outside. I'll complete the play by using both the (4) NB's Gutsnglory who has a streak of five top three finishes going and the (8) Keeper Kemo Sabe who shows a win from the eight box last time he had it.

Pick 1-2-4-8

Race 4 - Grade C - 583 yards - The pick here is the (8) Alone All Alone who is a wide running and late closing double drop greyhound. With all those factors going for him he's my key in this one. He will have some strong challengers, including another double drop in class the (1) Braska Dillon. He likes the rail and his good early speed should have him leading the race right out of the box. Also a threat is the (6) Macho Hero who is going for his seventh straight top four finish and to finish the ticket, I'll use the (2) Kiowa Lee Renfro who is coming off two solid performances, she has a win and a second place effort and worth a play in tri's and superfectas.

Pick 8-1-6-2

Race 9 - Grade AA - 583 yards - The one to watch here is the impressive and talented young greyhound (7) Counselor. What an incredible start to his career it has been for him as he began with a strong second place finish, beaten by a nose in his first official start and now he has rattled off five straight wins going from Grade M to Grade AA in amazingly less then a month. He's got early speed, a strong rush and a big run late, with all that talent and ability his future is bright indeed. In the chase for second place will be the (1) RC Abovetherest who is going for his third straight win and the (5) Mega Werewolf who is four out of five since coming here from the Derby Lane track. Finishing the play I'll include the late closing (8) CTW Dancin Fool in case the leaders encounter any trouble.

Pick 7-1-5-8

The Moneymaker pick of the evening is in the 6th race, a Grade B contest over the 583 yard course and the is the (4) O Ya Happy. He came here from Derby Lane where he had five top four finishes in eight races and since arriving here at Southland, has a nice second place schooling effort as well as a solid third place finish in his first official start. Looks like he can run from anywhere on the track so I'm giving him a shot in this one. Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
