Greyhound Preview - SOUTHLAND 9/20/14
By MoneyMaker Mike
Race 2 - Grade D - 660 yard course - I'm going with the (2) KL's Ginger as the key in this one as she is a double drop in grade and should be the frontrunner right out of the box due to her good early speed. She has been fading down the stretch lately but I do think she can get a big enough lead to hold on to a money finish. Her biggest challegers should be the (5) TB's Sky Captain who has two solid second place finishes in his last two race and has the strong closing ability to run down the leaders, and the (8) Sitasin who is well posted in the eight box for his mid to wide running style and who also is capable of coming from behind. Finishing the tri and superfecta plays, I will include the (4) Ishmahl Mcbones who if he can find a running lane early is worth taking a chance on.
Pick 2-5-8-4
Race 6 - Grade A - 583 yard course - The key here is the (7) Flying Supergiant who is dropping in grade and with his decent early rush should find plenty of room for his outside running style. I believe he's among the frontrunners early and shows his class by pulling away down the stretch. The (3) Mega Wikiup will be out fast as well and should be going paw to paw with Flying Supergiant, at least early on in the race. She tends to fade a bit but worth using on the ticket as she could be the one to benefit if there's any trouble among the frontrunners. I also will use (5) Alone All Alone as he is coming off a big six length win last time out and to finish my play, I'll include the (4) Pinhook who has a strong move at the end and who could sneak into the tri or superfecta play.
Pick 7-3-5-4
Race 7 - Grade AA - 583 yard course - The much talented (5) Flying Titanium is the choice here as he has 38 top four finishes in 42 races this season and 24 of those are wins. He is coming off a win and two second place efforts in his last 3 contests and with the consistency and ability that he has shown in his career to this point he's no doubt a future first team All-American. This is a competitive field and the (8) Arkuska Della will be one of the main challengers as she is well posted for her mid-track running style and she has the early speed in which to challenge for the front right out of the box. The (6) CBJ Waterford also is a frontrunner and can't be overlooked even though she likes the inside and may have trouble trying to get it from here. She does have two wins in her last three races so very capable if she avoid early trouble. The (4) Magic Garrett has tons of late speed so he gets a spot on the tri and superfecta plays.
Pick 5-8-6-4
The MoneyMaker play of the evening is in the 17th race, a Grade AA contest over the 660 yard course and the pick is the (1) Gigawatt who likes the inside and has a streak of five top three finishes coming into this race. He won't be among the frontrunners but you will see him make his strong patented move down the backstretch to get in position to make a late run at the leaders. He's worth a play here for sure.
Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
