Greyhound Preview - SOUTHLAND 9/24/14

September 23rd, 2014

By MoneyMaker Mike

Race 1 - Grade M - 583 yard course - The pick here is the (4) KL's Harvey who has looked impressive in two schooling wins and a strong second place finish in his first official start. He shows early speed, a nice rush to the turn and the ability to close down the stretch. The future is bright for this young greyhound and the one to beat here. The (7) CBJ Reagan has six top four finishes in nine races and lost by a neck last time out so worth using here. His strong late move will make him a threat for tri and superfecta plays each time out. The (8) Atascocita Duff is a mid to wide runner and well posted here. A good break here will help his chances in this race and so I wouldn't overlook him. The (6) SE's Photo Run shows early speed and should be battling for the lead right out of the box and I'll include him in the play.

Pick 4-7-8-6

Race 9 - Grade AA - 583 yard course - I'm going with the (4) WW's Dove House as the key here as I believe he comes from behind just in time to get the win. Since arriving here from the Wheeling track, he has eight top three finishes in ten races. Capable of hitting the lid or coming from behind, this talented greyhound is one to watch. The (1) RC Abovetherest will be a strong challenger as he likes the inside and the last two times he has had the one box, he has a win and a third place finish. Look for him to be among the early leaders in this one. The (8) Arkans Moose is running hard lately as evidenced by his win last time out in this grade and an eleven length win in a schooling race before that. Don't overlook this one as he is capable of making it two in a row. To complete the play I will use the (2) Slatex Taos who is posted well for his rail running style and will be battling for the lead right out of the box.

Pick 4-1-8-2

Race 18 - Grade TAA - 703 yard course - A very competitive field in this one but the pick here is the (8) PJ Im A Jammer to make it two straight wins from the eight box. I look for him to come out fast and find running room early to position himself for the win. The (4) L's Flaco will be a strong challenger as he had much trouble last time out and still finished a close third to PJ Im A Jammer. He will be coming from behind but he's still a definite threat to win as well as these two should battle all the way to the wire. The (1) Flying Uzi is another strong closer that bears watching and if the leaders encounter trouble,  she could be the greyhound that benefits the most. Finishing the ticket, I will use the (3) RCK Go For Jen who has good early speed and may be among the frontrunners right out of the box.

Pick 8-4-1-3

The MoneyMaker play of the evening is in the 2nd race, a Grade C contest over the 583 yard course and the pick is the (2) Drew My Charges. This young greyhound has 10 top four finishes in 15 races and has two wins and two seconds in his last five contests so I'm going to overlook his last race in which he had much trouble. He has a good rush and also shows decent closing ability so he's the choice here.

Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
