Greyhound Preview: Southland for 4/12/2014

April 12th, 2014

by Moneymaker Mike

Highlighting the racing tonight is a grade SAA super marathon over the 820 yard course and features an outstanding field of greyhounds ready to tackle the very demanding long course. I have included it in the picks below and I wish everyone the best of luck and I thank you for reading.

Race 2 - This grade D race over the 583 yard course should find the (1) Boc's Cardoza as the dog to beat, and rightfully so as she is a double drop and likes the inside and finally gets the one box. That being said, this is a tougher race then appears as the very early speed (5) Oshkosh Stevo will certainly be a factor as he has been the front in 4 of his 6 races. I also like the young pup (9) Arkans BD Brutus who won his maiden by 10 1/2 lengths and who had trouble last time but still was able to close for 3rd. Rounding out the superfecta play I will use the (4) RCK Genghis Kahn.

Picks: 1 - 5 - 9 - 4

Race 9 - Here is a grade A contest over the 583 yard course and I like the Wheeling invader and rail running (1) WW Sparks Flying after running a close second in her last two races. The (4) Ace High I like to give a good rush and be in position to challenge for the win down the stretch. Not to be overlook is the wide running (8) How Cool Is That who has been running against some very good hounds lately and that experience may pay off here. I will also give the (2) Flying Rainmaker a shot to complete the ticket.

Picks: 1 - 4 - 8 - 2

Race 13 - Here is the grade SAA matchup over the super marathon 820 yard course and where I like the (2) BOC'S  Blast Off to come from far off the pace to win at the wire in a thrilling finish in the race of the night. The betting public will probably be all over the (3) Flying Uzi and rightfully so as she is going for her 4th win in a row and 3rd straight win over the super marathon distance. This talented field also includes the always dangerous (4) WW'S Death Tax and the early speed (8) KL'S Pete for those looking to complete the tri and superfecta plays.

Picks: 2 - 3 - 4 - 8

Race 15 - This race is a grade TB contest over the 703 distance and I like the (1) PJ BetYourMoney who likes the inside and the added distance should be to his liking as his last win came from this same distance in the same grade. The (5) Over Drive has been encountering trouble lately but I'm looking for him to have a clean trip this time out. Also a factor will the (6) JT Octane who gives a nice consistent effort most every race. The (2) Flying Onlooker will finish out the ticket.

Picks: 1 - 5 - 6 - 2

Tonight's Moneymaker play is in the 4th race, a grade TD contest over the 660 yard course and is the (4) BOC'S Snow Flake. Despite trouble of late, she still has two seconds and a third in her last three races and this has been over the 583 course. She is no stranger to this distance and it should provide her with her first win at Southland. Good luck to everyone.
