Greyhound Preview: Southland for 4/18/2014
by Moneymaker Mike
Race 2 - Here is a grade A race over the 583 course and I like the (5) Flyin Brick Road to find enough room early and then utilize his early speed to get the lead and hold it. The (6) WW'S Pour It On gave a nice try last time out despite being bumped and should be closing down the stretch. I will also use two new transfers to Southland, the (1) Rockon Racoon from the Birmingham track as well as the (8) PJ Timeless who comes here from Palm Beach. Both of these greyhounds are coming off wins and worth putting on the ticket.
Picks: 5 - 6 - 1 - 8
Race 6 - In this grade C 583 yard race I'm going with the well posted and rail running (1) CBJ Old Glory. All this young and talented pup has done in his short career is win both schooling races and both a M and a D grade as he is now trying to make it 3 official wins in a row. Challenging early will be the (2) Slatex Athens who shows a nice rush to the turn as well. For a nice longshot I'll take a shot with the (9) Flying Friar who for the fifth time in six races has drawn the outside box. I will use the (7) KL'S I Like Ike to complete tri and superfecta tickets.
Picks: 1 - 2 - 9 - 7
Race 13 - Here we have a super marathon grade SC race over the 820 yard course and I'm going with the (5) PJ New York. He has been running the 703 yard course and I think the added distance will prove to be at his liking. He starts slow but will be flying at the finish. The (8) Pink Cadillac has some early speed and likes it mid to wide and will be a threat here. Will use both the (3) Kiowa Tam Tops who likes the inside and the (2) Wine N Greece who also is a strong closer.
Picks: 5 - 8 - 3 - 2
Race 16 - In this grade AA race over the 583 yard course we find the (4) U Too Pure Silk as the one to beat. He will be out fast once again and when that happens he is very tough to run down. The rail running (1) CBJ Kitkat is posted well and if U Too Pure Silk has any trouble, the KitKat is more then capable of taking over the race. The (5) Aqib Talib has certainly been running hard lately and should be included on the ticket as well as the wide running and fast closing (8) Kiowa Jared.
Picks: 4 - 1 - 5 - 8
This evening's Moneymaker play is in the 9th race which is a grade TC race over the 703 yard course and is the (1) JT Octane.
