Greyhound Preview: Southland for 4/26/2014
by Moneymaker Mike
This evening's races are loaded with talented greyhounds ready to go paw to paw from start to finish and what an exciting night of racing it is sure to be. In going over the program there are several races that stand out and the picks from those are listed below. Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
Race 3 - This is a grade M contest over the 583 yard course and I like the (8) Arkans Bd Heidi to avoid any early trouble and get the win. This is the third time she has drawn the eight box in her five career starts so she should be ready to go. The (1) Mojoe Dugout shows good early speed but has been a tad short in several of his schooling races but may draw an early benefit here. Some of you will remember that I've used the (2) Time Square on several occasions lately and I do like him to be closing fast in this race but trying to get mid to wide may cause him early trouble. Finishing out the tri and superfectas ticket I will use the (3) RCK Azalea.
Picks: 8 - 1 - 2 - 3
Race 6 - Here we have a grade A race over the 583 yard course and I'm liking the (2) J'S Redneck Romeo to be a big surprise here. From the inside post he has tried to go early and I look for him to do the same here and clear the turn in good shape to make his dash to the finish. The (5) Volando Dosh has been steadily moving up in grade and is going after his fourth win in his last six races so look for a real strong rush to the turn to put him in the chase again. Capable of making the ticket also will be the (4) Arkans Joey and the (7) PJ Super Duper, both of whom are trying to make it two straight wins for them.
Picks: 2 - 5 - 4 - 7
Race 7 - In another grade M race over the 583 course I am going with the (3) AMF Sunny Blaze. Normally I don't include two maiden contests in my picks but in his two schooling races and one official start, he has two wins and a second place finish. Looks to me like he is the greyhound to beat though the (1) CBJ Independence may have something to say about that as he has three top four finishes in his first six races. He does have decent early speed to go along with his consistency. Also I will use to complete my ticket both the (6) Enuhjyza and the (4) Broken Halo.
Picks: 3 - 1 - 6 - 4
Race 11 - This race is a grade AA contest over the 583 yard course and features one of the best greyhounds racing at Southland, the (3) Kiowa Producer who made the 2013 Greyhound All-American team and who is going for his 7th straight win. The race will be for second place and I will take the (4) Alone All Alone to make the quiniela as he is very familiar with Kiowa Producer with this making the fifth straight race the two greyhounds have been in together. Not to be overlooked for the tri and superfecta plays are the (2) Mega Reesy and the (8) Arkans Max.
Picks: 3 - 4 - 2 - 8
This evening's Moneymaker play is in the 2nd race, a C grade distance contest over the 660 yard course and I am going to go with the (4) Bella Eerie. This greyhound has had his share of trouble on the turns lately but with him dropping in class and the fact he won a schooling race last time out by 16 lengths makes me believe he could be ready to run here.
