Greyhound Preview: Southland for 4/9/2014
by Moneymaker Mike
Tuesday's card features the 2nd round of the 2014 Southland Spring Futurity stakes races and several other nice opportunities to put some cash in your pocket. Enjoy and good luck to all.
Race 1 - The first race is a grade D race over the 660 yard course and I like the rail running (1) WW Electric Eel to be the one to beat here. He gave a nice effort last race from the one box by running third so I look for a repeat of a big race only this time he gets the win. Closing strong down the stretch will be the young pup (5) Slatex Angelfire who has encountered trouble lately but should have a clean run in this one. Going to the front will be the early speed (3) Arkans BD Skylar. Rounding out the superfecta ticket I will use the late speed and Orange Park invader the (7) Magic Alltel.
Pick: 1 - 5 - 3 - 7
Race 4 - With this grade M race over the 583 yard course I have to say that I like this race a lot as the (8) Time Square is posted well for his wide running style. The (7) Rubbah finds herself in her first official race after looking very good in 3 of her 4 schooling races. I like her to be challenging for the lead right out of the box as she shows nice early speed. The (6) PJ Im A Jerk draws an outside post for the first time in 6 races and could be the surprise of the race. I will also use the early speed and inside runner (2) Arkans BD Tater.
Pick: 8 - 7 - 6 - 2
Race 5 - Here we have one of the 2nd round 2014 Southland Futurity races, a grade SAA race over the 583 yard course and where the (2) Flying Titanium should hit the lid and be gone. As I mentioned last time he ran, he started his career here at Southland with 7 straight wins and now has 15 wins out of 21 races and is definitely one of the stars at this track. Another young pup that I've been following here who has shown much potential is the (5) Beryl Drumm with his mid to wide running style. Not to be overlooked here are both the (6) SE'S High Noon and the (8) Bella Fredrick in completing your tri or superfecta play.
Pick: 2 - 5 - 6 - 8
Race 8 - In this Grade B race over the 583 yard course I like the (8) Flying Sage to regain her A grade form and close for the win. I also like the (9) Bold Deceiver who looked impressive 2 races ago when she won by 9 lengths in a grade C outing. With a good rush, the (4) PJ ReasonImBroke can get part of this race and I will also include the (2) Kiowa Abby Monk who may surprise and try for the front.
Pick: 8 - 9 - 4 - 2
Today's Moneymaker play is in the grade SAA 15th race and is the young pup with tremendous talent and heart the (6) Dexter Ambigram. Good luck and thanks for reading.
