Greyhound Preview: Southland for 5/24/2014
by Moneymaker Mike
Another Saturday night of fun filled greyhound racing entertainment at Southland is highlighted by a 2013 All-American displaying his talents while going for his fourth straight win. We have that race along with others included in our picks below so enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend while hopefully putting some extra cash in your pockets.
Race 7 - Grade AA - 583 yards - What a great way to get the picks started by going with a greyhound that was selected to the 2013 All-American team, the very talented (7) Kiowa Producer. Trying for his 12th win in 15 races, I believe he goes box to wire here to get it. Another fine runner is the (4) Flyin Supergiant who could steal the win if the seven encounters any trouble. To complete the tri and superfecta plays I am going to use the hard running (1) HL's Travis who is going for his third win in his last five races. The (6) Mega Reesy may follow the frontrunners early and worth a shot here.
Picks: 7 - 4 - 1 - 6
Race 10 - Grade D - 583 yards - I am sticking with the young pup the (1) Klutch to get the win here. I am overlooking his last time out when he encountered trouble as he has looked impressive in his very young career. The (5) Slatex Sandstorm is showing his abilities by winning on both the 583 and 660 yard courses and can't be overlooked here. The (8) T's Heavy Chevy likes it mid to wide and is coming off a schooling race where he won by 8 lengths. Finishing the play I will use the (4) Keep It In Mind.
Picks: 1 - 5 - 8 - 4
Race 14 - Grade D - 583 yards - The (2) Eye Pleasing is the play in this contest and the rail runner will use this inside post to his advantage tonight. He has not missed the money in his three starts since arriving here from Naples and I look for another good effort here. The (5) Future King has had much trouble lately but I believe he avoids getting bumped early and gives a very nice effort tonight. Also worth giving a shot on is the (6) Flying Freya who likes it wide. For those tri and superfecta tickets, I'll go with the early speed (1) Mega Bibb.
Picks: 2 - 5 - 6 - 1
Race 17 - Grade TC - 820 yards - Another exciting super marathon contest and I like the (2) Kiowa Tree White as he is a double drop greyhound and he likes it inside, should be the key here. The (4) AJN Lebron James is running hard lately and has two seconds and a third place finish in his last three races. Also in the chase I am going to use the longshot (3) Jake Ballard as he has six top four finishes in his young career of eight races and ran third over this distance the first time he ran it. Finishing the play I am going with the (5) WW's Kin.
Picks: 2 - 4 - 3 - 5
The Moneymaker play is in the 5th race, a grade TB contest over the 660 yard course and the pick is the (2) VJ Charlie. He likes the rail and I think he is the frontrunner early and able to hold on for the win. He shows a B grade win over this distance from the same two box he has tonight just a few races back.
