Greyhound Preview: Southland for 6/26/2014

This evening's Southland card has 18 races sure to provide exciting and entertaining greyhound racing and I have selected several below that I feel offer good wagering opportunities to put some money in our pockets. The picks tonight are mostly concentrated on the early races for a change. Good luck to all and thanks for reading.
Race 2- Grade D - 583 yard course - I am going with the (7) CBJ Waterford as the key here. This greyhound is a young pup with only 9 career starts but she does have three wins already and with her good rush to the turn, I believe she clears early and then holds the lead all the way to the finish line. I will also use the (8) AMF Sunny Moon, another young pup that has shown talent early in his career and who has 8 top four finishes in 12 races and does have a win from the eight box just a few races back. Finishing out the tri and superfecta plays I will include the (2) Mega Rambutan and the (6) SE's Brother.

Race 3 - Grade C - 583 yard course - The pick here is the (3) Famous Jameis as he has three second place finishes in his first four official races of his career and with his good early rush, he should be in good position to make a winning move down the stretch. The (4) PJ All Romance will also be in the chase as he has six top four finishes in eight races and has both early and late speed. The (8) PJ Picknroll likes it mid-track and the (6) KB's Ice Chest may find some running room early.

Race 4 - Grade B - 660 yard course - A tough field but the pick here is the (7) Vacant Box who I think steals the win at the wire. He has encountered much trouble lately but he did have a streak recently where he had 15 straight top four finishes including 4 wins, all in a higher grade. The (2) Rawlins likes the inside and is coming off a nice second place effort where he was caught at the wire. I like a repeat performance from him here. To complete the play, I will use the (1) Dachamp and the (5) Mega Defiant who will be challenging for the early lead.

Race 15 - Grade B - 583 yard course - The pick is the (1) O Ya Gordy, a rail runner who is posted well and who has a win and two second place efforts in his last three races over this course. I think the one box makes the difference here. The (7) A Nun With A Gun is going for her seventh straight top two finish and with her early speed she will be vying for the lead right out of the box. Another early speed racer is the (6) Volbeat who is coming off a six length win and shouldn't be overlooked. Finishing the ticket I will use the longshot (4) Arkans Monica in case she steals a big lead early.

The Moneymaker play of the evening is in the 1st race, a grade D contest over the 583 yard course and is the (7) CJB Liberty. He likes it mid-track and has a strong early rush and he is worth a play here.
