Handicapping the Cross Country Pick 5 for November 22

November 21st, 2020

The Cross Country Pick 5 for Sunday will consist of a trio of races at Aqueduct and two from Churchill Downs.

50-cent Cross Country Pick 5 Ticket

  • 1,4,8 with 3,7 with 4,6 with 2,9,10 with 1,4,6 = $54

Leg 1 -- Aqueduct Race 7 -- (2:45 p.m. ET)

State-bred runners on the turf will commence the wager. #1 Sanctuary City was a close second on the course with similar last time and could be the one for Ferraro. Temple City colt will rally from off the pace under Carmouche.

#4 Matty’s Express and #8 Advanced Strategy are also included in leg 1.

Leg 2 -- Churchill Downs Race 5 -- (3:03 p.m. ET)

2-year-old maiden claimers will vie in the 6-furlong dash on the dirt. I expect major improvement from #3 Naveen on the class drop. Walsh pupil was outrun at first asking, but the colt faces a weak field and shows a swift half-mile move on the surface in preparation of his second assignment, so he may graduate on Sunday.

#7 Final Game intrigues as a first-time starter for Dunn. Chestnut son of decent debut sire Daredevil will have Corey Lanerie in the controls.

Leg 3 -- Aqueduct Race 8 -- (3:17 p.m. ET)

A talented field of turf performers will vie in the 1 1/16-mile test. There is a good measure of pace in the cast, so I will seek out closing types to put on the ticket. #4 Timeless Journey and #6 Kilkea look best of the off-the-pace players.

Leg 4 -- Aqueduct Race 10 -- (4:13 p.m. ET)

The third grassy race of the sequence features a big field of fillies and mares in a maiden claiming affair. #2 Twice A Lady drops in class while adding blinkers for her second lifetime appearance. The $340,000 purchase is kin to four turf winners from four siblings to run, and she makes sense under Irad.

The debuting #9 Miss Sephora and second-time starter #10 My Lips Are Sealed, will also make the play.

Leg 5 -- Churchill Downs Race 8 -- (4:36 p.m. ET)

Allowance tilt at five-eighths on the dirt closes out the sequence. The pace of the race will be rapid, so either of #1 Admiral Lynch, #4 Mojo Man or #6 Seven Nation Army, should capitalize from off the pace to end the sequence.
