Harmonize leads packed field in Jessamine

October 5th, 2015

The Breeders' Cup "Win & You're In" Challenge prep seasons winds down Wednesday when Keeneland hosts the $150,000 Jessamine (G3), a 1 1/16-mile prep for the Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1).

Fourteen are in the main body of the field, with two also-eligibles hoping to draw in. Favoritism is likely to fall on Harmonize, who exits a dominating four-length score in the $100,000 P.G. Johnson, Saratoga's leading race for the division.

Trained by Bill Mott, Harmonize made amends for an earlier nose maiden defeat by Thrilled. Although closer to a hotter pace in the P.G. Johnson, Harmonize put that rival and others away by a large margin. Thrilled later finished second by a nose in the Miss Grillo (G3) at Belmont.

Also coming in from New York are the Chad Brown-trained Theory of Change, a 7-1 upset winner of her debut at Saratoga on Labor Day, and Delicate Lady, a distant third in the Adirondack (G2) in her debut for Todd Pletcher.

Fillies that last raced at Kentucky Downs are in abundance. Among the stronger-looking are Moms Choice, Lilly's Dream, and Precious Love, the second- through fourth-place finishers in the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Fillies, and Outsider Art, who broke her maiden at Saratoga before taking an allowance by a length at the all-turf track.

Inconclusive, runner-up to Outsider Art in the aforementioned allowance, should appreciate the added ground as should debut winner Sapphire Kitten. Clare View has run twice at a mile already, missing by a nose in her Arlington bow and then graduating at Kentucky Downs by a head.

Come to Mischief, a six-length debut winner at Woodbine on Polytrack in June, looks to rebound from a last-place effort in the Del Mar Debutante (G1) while trying turf for the first time.
