Tim Holland brings us picks for Parx Racing, Indiana Grand and Mahoning Valley to get our week rolling following big payouts with some big odds hitting at Breeders' Cup.
Parx Racing
Race 7
Lasix is added to #9 Iron Lad (9-2), who was prominent early when third in his debut over the track and distance in his debut at this level in mid-September. Trainer Vega wins with 13% of his runners that have not raced for 46-90 days and has won with 19% of his starters at this meet. Son of Palace can be on or near the lead from the start under Pennington, who has won with one of his last six rides for the barn.
Indiana Grand
Race 5
Trainer Caramori wins with 11% of his second-time starters and saddles #9 Egalite (12-1), who made late progress when fourth in her debut over the course and distance early last month. Daughter of excellent young sire Constitution is a half-sister to two winners and Caramori has won with one of his eight runners at this meet. Filly can show more here with Sanjur remaining aboard.
Race 7
#9 Shakes Creak (10-1) has won two of his five previous starts on grass and was last seen when fifth in an even effort over 6 furlongs on the all-weather main track at Arlington in September. Trainer Garcia wins with 22% of his runners that have not raced for 46-90 days and has won with 21% of his starters at this meet. Son of 14% turf sire The Factor can be in good position throughout with apprentice Morales riding.
Mahoning Valley
Race 2
#7 Town Dancer (12-1) was claimed by Elliot Sullivan when second after vying for the lead from the start at Fort Erie last month in his second start after a lengthy break. Sullivan wins with 23% of his runners first time off the claim and dark bay has won one of his four career starts. Gelding can be on or near the lead from the start with Keiser in the saddle.
